Like the previous reviewer, this also was our last stop of the day and we are glad we did. We were drawn in by the signs promising bubbly and chocolate. We did a Zin and chocolate tasting along with some tasting of Syrah and bubbly. The tasting room is very large and dog friendly. We enjoyed the tasting and speaking with the staff. Their is a nice covered area outside that would be good for a picnic.
Last winery of the day for us and dogs. Sometimes the last tasting is questionable. Your palate is shot from so many wines and purchases can be iffy at best, but the was no fluke or bad decision. We made a great decision to stop and we're lucky to come upon such lovely fun wines.
After two days of tasting.....this is our first wine club sign up of the trip! Their wines were good and their club a great deal. Thanks to them for all the warm and comfy feel we got from the winery and the people there!
Beautifully kept farm building renovated into a large tasting room. Tasting Room staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Stills and sparkling are to die for. Must visit when in wine country.
This was our 25th year going to Sonoma Wineries. We love Sparkling wines and were members of Amista Vineyards for 2 years. We dropped the wine club, because the wines were not consistent and priced very high for the quality. . I had been reading before our recent visit about their sparkling red and decided to give them a second try. Big mistake!!!! We stopped on Saturday October 15th for a tastin , and found the sparkling red was the only sparkling that we were served that we liked. We were then told we could only buy 1 bottle if we signed up again for the wine club, and we would still need to pay the $30 dollars fee for the tasting. That would mean a commitment of 6 bottle, 3 times a year, without any guarantee, we would get the 1 sparkling wine we wanted. NO THANKS!
Every other winery we visited that day charged no more the $!5 for their tasting fee that was always waved if we bought a bottle of wine. We had amazing tastings at Icarian Winery, Lambert Bridge ,Iron Horse, and J Ricards. Not so much at Amista Vineyards. The person giving our tasting was rude and said the owners would not wave the tasting fee ever.
This winery will never have our business again. We tasted amazing sparkling wines the next day at 2 vineyards within a 15 minute drive, that did not charge us for the tasting after we bought their sparkling wine. We also were treated to a pleasant tasting experience. If you want sparkling wine, without signing up for their club, head elsewhere. These wines are overpriced, and the tasting experience is terrible!!!!!
We included a sparkling wine tasting mid-way through our day of wine tasting and it was a nice change of pace. Lovely grounds and we sat outside right next to the vineyard. Yummy bubbles and our host was extremely informative and friendly!
Went to Amista with a large group of people to try their sparkling wine. After making a reservation and a request to taste the sparkling wine (and being told it would not be an issue), we were all disappointed to learn that our tasting would not include a single sparkling. We were told sparkling tastings are for members only, that only members could do tastings outside, and (unlike a majority of vineyards in the area) they were not going to wave a tasting fee with the purchase of a bottle.
With so many options in the area, and a limited time, everyone in the group was disappointed by Amista.
