Description: The Lodge’s signature restaurant, A.R. Valentien, highlights regional San Diego cuisine served in an elegant, timbered indoor-outdoor dining room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. Executive Chef Jeff Jackson sources only the best local provisions, and the menu changes frequently based on seasonal fare available. The restaurant takes its name from a talented early 20th-century California artist whose works are exhibited throughout the restaurant.

We came for my birthday dinner. Hubby is Omni and I am vegan. Trip advisor states Vegan friendly but upon reading the menu, I was a little scared. Our server Stewart was very knowledgeable and assured me the ONE main course option they offered which was not on the menu would be good. Trustingly I opted to try, but also added a carrot citrus soup also, which was average. The meal however was phenomenal! The ginger raspberry cocktail was divine! And they printed my name on the menu. Very good at making you feel special! Wowed for fancy vegan option, which is hard to find.

Can only speak for breakfast which was mediocre. Salmon was “cured” not smoked which translates as raw and not sushi quality. Frittata was egg, cheese, and undercooked boiled potatoes. We were not seated outside because of rain and did not try dinner although the menu looked good. Expensive and pretentious. The Lodge is privately owned and totally
separate from the golf course.

This restaurant is a delightful find, if you are looking for quiet ambiance, excellent food, and excellent service. Although a little pricier than average, it is well worth the experience, especially for your special occasions. Valet parking is free, if you dine at the restaurant. In the quiet environment, one is able to converse without having to shout across the table, while overlooking the eighteen green at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. One of their signature dishes is the Duck, which was delicious. Their Lamb Remoulade is also very tasty. Unlike many restaurants, their menu opens with a selections of Charcuteries, which are delightful, as well. You won't be disappointed if you get the opportunity to experience this fine restaurant.

We’ve decided that the outside deck at A.R. Valentien is now our favorite lunch venue, especially for special occasions, so for our 22nd Valentine’s Day, we loved it!!

My husband recommended the lobster and the dish was incredible... I would highly recommend it! It is not only a beautiful entree but tender and flavorful.

The Veuve Clicquot was sparkling in the sun and the gentle breeze off the ocean provided the perfect contrast to the luscious pine trees surrounding us on the deck.

Parking is available by valet (no charge) or in a choice of parking lots.

If you have the luxury of time and a splurge, make a reservation to stay at the Lodge for a night or 2 or 5! It is incredibly beautiful and there are numerous places to enjoy a drink around a fireplace or perhaps a cheeseboard outside by a fire pit. All are with the possibility while you enjoy your dinner at A.R. Valentien!

Sat outside in February and was warm with the heaters overhead. Great service. Excellent chef and menu. Enough food to save half for breakfast.
