Although the property's décor tells its age, the lodge is in exquisite condition! The views are amazing! The food and wine selections are outstanding. The golf course is top rated. Only feature that is not 5 stars is the pool, but the poolside service more than made up for it. Overall, a very beautiful and relaxing vacation.

We lived just down the street from the Lodge at Torrey Pines and I come here often to play golf. However, we didn't get to stay here until my wife's law firm afforded us an opportunity to do (too complicated to explain). Anyway we got to stay for a few days at a regular room with a garden-like view; the room itself was spacious enough and very quiet, comfortable, and clean. The decor was "lodge" like, which was not exactly our taste but still very tastefully done. The hotel has excellent service from the doorman to the cleaning staff to the concierge, all super polite and always smiling. And the golf course is one of the few in the country that has hosted a US Open and is available to the public, with spectacular Pacific Ocean views, especially on the South Course (North course is much easier for golfing though not as scenic). There is also a really good restaurant at the lodge, A.R. Valentien, as well as a host of excellent restaurant in downtown La Jola which is a short distance away. Highly recommended for a luxury golf and family vacation hotel.

We have stayed at the Lodge twice but got for lunch every time we can. The hotel is beautiful, quiet, elegant but not stiff.I think the best quality is that they really try to give you the best for the money you pay. We hope to go back year after year. The golfing is wonderful. The rooms that overlook the course are really worth it. Nice small pool. You can valet or self park your car. Have not tried the formal restaurants just because we love the one by the golf course. For a romantic trip or a family trip this a great hotel to stay at.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view to the golf course

Beautifully built and situated. Great and friendly service. Lovely restaurants. The Christmas and Hanukkah decorations were charming. I look forward to going back soon. And now to reach 200 characters, I ramble on.

The service award of the year goes to this property! It really does transport your spirit to another place and time, feeling a lot like a lodge resort in the Scottish isles (imagine you're on the west side, since that's where the sun sets at both locations). Everything about the location is wonderful, and the nearby beach is a great place to stroll or collect seashells (the public beach). There is also a state park with plenty of scenic hiking to enjoy. Both nature locations add value to staying here. The parking garage didn't quite fit the ambiance of everything else, and every time in and out of the lot was a smack back to reality...if they have an extra dollar to spend, it should improve the garage.
