Ok we were on the seaside and wherever we had dinner we felt like tourists, I'm italian, didn't like that! So we moved a bit inland and found this place, we chose the basic menu .. let's give it a try..
The starters were coming in like I had never experienced before .. 3 kind of cicoria, peppers from their veg garden, the tastiest I had never experienced, lots lots lots of freshly cooked vegetables.
We had to take home some of the first course and meat. 2 days after I was there again! Really simple, good oil, good cooking.. little bill.
I definitely suggest it to those who look for the real thing.. no to those who likes mini portions on a bed of salad, with balsamico graffitis.

Thank Marco F

This was a second of two visits about two years apart. Each time we were brought there by Italian friends, two separate sets of folks who did not know one another. Both groups had roots in Lecce. Driving into Pisignano at night is sort like taking a trip back into another age. The buildings around L'Arco are illuminated and you're driving into what looks like a cluster of centuries old buildings looming up out of deep defining shadows. Archways, towers, and the antique textures of old stones, rutted plaster, and crumbled brick clearly place you in a medieval setting. It's an experience we've had in dozens of other small towns in the Italian countryside. Frankly, it always sets me up to experience something special.

At this visit, we didn't find it at L'Arco. And frankly, neither of us even remembered our first visit two years before, so I don't think it was very remarkable.

The primary seating at L'Arco is in an al fresco courtyard, with a few other tables, the kitchen and restrooms just inside the adjoining building. Overhead, instead of the sky and the stars, white canvas panels stretched on cables form a "ceiling" over most of the courtyard tables.

This time, our friends preferred to order a variety of house specialties to share among ourselves. That wouldn't have been my choice, but we went along with our buddies' preferences. One of our friends had brought along several bottles of favorite wines which our waiter was happy to serve. I don't think corkage fees were required as it is a pretty common practice among Italian wine lovers. Since there were about eight of us, we also ended up ordering other wines as well, all of which were excellent. Over the next hour and half the food started coming, probably at least a dozen different plates. A few were outstanding, a few were frankly abysmal, and the rest were okay, but nothing special. Service? The youthful waiter seemed like a dope and didn't contribute much. The prices were low and if I remember correctly our share for the two of us came to only 30 Euro or so.So the value was there, even if the culinary experience really wasn't.

When we began dinner, there were a couple of families there in the courtyard with acouple of well behaved kids. As dinner went on, more and more people showed up with children and soon the increased number of kids started making all kinds of racket. Calm and good behavior vanished in an indirect relationship to how much noise the teens and pre-teens were making. It didn't take too long before the uproar and commotion got unpleasant.

I went to this restaurant for a Pizza and everything was fine. The place is awesome, the staff is friendly and the pizza is spectacular. If you happen to be in Salento, You should absolutely try this restaurant!

This is a quite rustic restaurant with good, unpretentious food from the Salento region and good pizzas as well, all for a great price. Not fancy but high quality food and great value.
