We found our room satisfactory; there was nothing really remarkable, it was just basic lodging. It was comfortable and clean and affordable. We were initially concerned about noise through a connecting door to the next room, but did not have any problems at night when it mattered. Nothing fancy, but comfortable enough at an affordable price.

The hotel has an early warm breakfast with views of Mt. Whitney. Lone Pine is close to Diaz Lake and Owens valley. High numbers of birds can be seen, even in the winter. Death Valley has many great sites and is also close by. The hotel is comfortable, quiet, and clean.

This is kind of an old property, but that's the norm for places around Long Pine. We visited here because we wanted to go to Death Valley, and I wanted to see the eastern Sierras. And, boy, can you see them from here. The views from the hotel driveway just stagger my imagination. You can drive up into the Alabama Hills on the west side of town and see the places where many famous movies were shot on location. It's best, though, to visit the museum of movie history in town to get your bearings first. You can also drive about ten miles north of town and visit Manzanar, one of the internment camps in which the government housed people of Japanese ancestry during World War II, most of whom were American citizens. It's not such a good place for visiting Death Valley, though, as the park HQ is about 100 miles away. It's manageable, though.

The front desk staff was very friendly. She gave us a wonderful room, even tho we didn't have reservations. She also suggested a restaurant for dinner and it was delicious. The room was huge, with a comfortable bed. The towels were really white and new. There were grassy areas with benches and tables for having wine and watching the mountains. Surprisingly very quiet as it is next to hwy 395. Wouldn't have expected such a nice place in little town of Lone Pine, but it was great. We were coming home from skiing Mammoth, and will now stay there every time coming home.
