At 150-250 this sorta place was a bit odd and run down...but the views and unheated pool made it a little gem and made up for the not so nice aspects.
Now at 450-600 a night, its Crazy for this place and Ive stayed here multiple times in the past 6 years, 150-250 was reasonable if you like a cold pool and an older Apt building turned into a sort of "Hotel" . The changes/renovations are minor room updates that should have been done 10-15 years ago. This is a $150-250 "Hotel". If one is going to spend 400-800, there are MANY much better choices all over the area. As it stands, this place takes a certain type to appreciate, it is Nothing like Modern or even Older high End Hotels. It was built on the cheap long ago. Without MAJOR renovations vs very light updating to remove old dirty carpets some paint and simple remodel...this place does not warrant doubling and quadrupling in prices. Seems like almost nothing was invested / changed yet the price goes up to 400-600? Maybe 1/10th of what would be needed to redo this place was $pent. People with $ to spend $450-600 will NOT appreciate this place...People who do appreciate this place are going to find far better options at 450-600 or simply not have that kind of $ to spend on a room here any longer. I am both and even though I really do appreciate this place.. at 450-600, its really quite ridiculous.

Stayed at this property on 10/18/16 and thought that as this is operated by the highly rated Magic Castle Hotel that is would be it would be a good pick. The staff were very professional and pleasant, however the hotel was rustic. With trepidation and a 2 day cancellation policy we stayed. You check in at the Magic Castle Hotel and then go up a dark single lane road to get to the hotel. It appears to be an aging apartment building in need of renovation (which is scheduled) and grounds are rough. Some of the apartments across from ours were boarded up. Rodents ran across the path into the hallway. There was a dumpster and very poor lighting outside and in the open hallway of the building. The light at our room door was out. The room is large but very dated, large old TVs, bedding did not fit the bed and lacked a top sheet on each bed. When requested a top sheet, staff was very prompt and brought it but we were on our way out and just took the sheet to put on upon our return. When went to put the sheet on the bed, it was damp like it was just pulled out of the dryer before it was done. By this we were time we were reduced to laughing hysterically and planned a very early exit. On the positive side it was very quiet but also scary dark. The view was very nice. Wait for the remodel and renovation...........

The views from this property are amazing. I took a quick trip with my brother in law and we could not have been happier with the location. The room we were in 206 had panoramic glass windows throughout that overlooked the LA skyline. I might add the balcony was massive. This view could not be beat. The front desk staff (located at the Magic Castle Hotel) were so pleasant. Kudos to Gretchen for her upbeat personality and ability to keep all guests with a smile on their face! The location was perfect, a quick shuttle down to the Magic Castle Hotel, and then a quick walk right over to Hollywood Blvd. The pool was amazing also with the same views. Gretchen got us into Yamashiro (restaurant located above hotel) last minute and we had some some of the best sushi I have ever had. This hotel is a true bargain and a hidden gem. My only regret is we didn't stay longer. My biggest concern is the modest prices and the hidden gem quality can only last so long. I will have to try to get back before 2017. Thanks again for a great stay to Gretchen and staff.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have panoramic windows. i.e. 306 and 206, 504 seems to be there most updated room.

What a place to stay! The views and value for money afforded by this hotel are absolutely amazing. Sure, it is a little old, but it is clean, the staff are really lovely, the breakfast is good (down at the partner hotel), plenty of parking, the tranquility and respite of being in the hills - and again...the views.

Highly recommend choosing a room with a balcony. Of a morning or a night - the view of Los Angeles is magnificent - you have Downtown, Tower Records, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Hills - actually, highly recommend waking up early for sunrise - seeing the sun rise over the Griffith Observatory was just beautiful - have a look at the photographs I've provided to share this...

Highly, highly recommend this place for your stay. Would stay here every time.

Let me start by saying you get what you pay for. Yes, the apartments are slightly outdated and a little basic but for less than $170 a night and only one block from the walk of fame and main sights of Hollywood you really cannot complain. It is perfectly placed to access all the main tourist sights, whilst being high enough up in the hills to have some peace and quiet from the busy city. The staff were the best of all hotels we stayed at whilst in the USA. We were on honeymoon and we arrived to find a complimentary bottle of wine and some cookies waiting for us, with a lovely card all signed by the staff. Everyday the staff were so helpful and chatty and we loved the breakfast which was included, the food was good and it was so relaxing sitting in the courtyard down at the Magic Castle Hotel. If we were ever in Hollywood again, I would not hesitate to stay here. It was amazing for the location and the service we received and the view is to die for! I highly recommend these apartments.

Room Tip: Book a high up room with a city view - it is amazing!
