This is an excellent budget type hotel well away from the tackiness and sleeze of the Hollywood Bouleverd area.

Located on 3rd Street a bit below Melrose & Beverly and a couple of blocks west of LaBrea, I think this is known as central Hollywood.
This is a safe respectable neighbourhood and not too far from The Grove shopping complex and Farmers' Market. It is generally quiet apart from some traffic noise and the occasional police or fire sirens.

The Park Plaza Lodge is a budget hotel but with clean spacious rooms. The check-in desk staff were friendly and helpful, and there is free parking.

A cafe across the road is OK for breakfast but there does't seem to be any restaruants in easy walking distance.
It's a short drive to The Grove but then you have to deal with a large multi level parking area, which I found a pain if you just want an easy way to get dinner.
You will find several restaurants on LaBrea Avenue but once again it's a car ride.

There is far more good than bad with this hotel and I will stay there again...and did I mention their rates won't break the bank.

Location is perfect
Parking is free
Cost with parking in the area cannot be matched
Room was big
Wifi was perfect
Bed was comfortable
Bathroom was big and convenient
Everything was perfectly clean
Staff was helpful
Style is a bit oldish but everything works fine
Can be noisy because of nearby roads when firemen pass by, but with earplugs it’s perfect

Not glitzy or fancy, but very clean and comfortable! Big room and very nice bathroom. Best part was that it was so clean. The shower was wonderful. A good shower is important in hotel priorities and this one takes the cake. The staff was friendly and quick with extra pillows. Parking was right under the building, off the street. Traffic was easy around the hotel, and there were a lot of places to eat within walking. The hotel is older and not fancy but I saw no issues of water damage or age. Clean, cheap, quiet. Great.

Room was clean and functional. Free parking. Nice bathroom remodel. Coffee, frig & tv in room. Noisy AC. Walking distance to Farmers Market & Grove (12 minutes). Coffee place with sandwiches and pastries across the street. Friendly and helpful desk personnel.

I stayed here for 1 night at the end of my trip to California and found it a good location. It is a short walk to popular attractions The Grove & Farmers Markets and there is a Starbucks just across the street. It's about 15 minutes drive from Melrose Avenue and the bar & restaurant scene as well (I caught an Uber to the Improv Comedy theatre).

The hotel itself is basic but is perfect if you are just looking to use the place as somewhere to sleep and leave your things while you go off exploring. If you are a keen explorer I would probably only stay for 1 or 2 nights max though and then move somewhere else closer to other LA attractions as there is not a lot else close by other than those mentioned earlier.

Prices are reasonable for LA standards (I paid USD 135 for a night). The staff are nice enough and the rooms have everything you need though if you are on the second floor there are no elevators so bear that in mind if you have heavy bags (the staff may carry them up for you).
