The room was not ready upon arrival at 3 pm. I had to wait for a phone call to get my room. Staff did not provide any information on parking. Room was over priced relative to the quality of the room provided and $5 water bottles is unacceptable upon arrival.

Classy, well maintained, property. Great location, walkable to Fisherman Wharf with restaurants, paths to watch seals in the ocean, or downtown shops and restaurants, and Cannery Row. The professional staff is courteous and efficient. Wish the restaurant was open; difficult to find open eateries due to pandemic.

Thank you for your 5-star review of the Portola Hotel & Spa. We're happy to hear you enjoyed our perfect location in downtown Monterey, and our friendly staff. Jacks Monterey, our on-site restaurant, is open Wed- Sun 6:30am-10:30am for breakfast, and 4pm-10pm for dinner. Peter B's Brewpub our on-site craft brewery is open Thur-Sat & Mon 4pm-10pm and Sun 9:30am-10pm.

I was very pleased by the speediness of checking in and checking out and the bell hop deliver of my vehicle and luggage. I would stay using the valet service again. Much easier than parking and trying to load my own luggage.

The Portola was amazing! I was there for a conference, and enjoyed everything. I had an issue checking in and the front desk staff were very helpful. Beautiful property, I highly recommend the walking trail to the Aquarium, I will definitely return with my family!

Family with 2 young kids and a stroller placed on the second floor with no elevator and no heads up about it. Hotel was sold out and couldn’t move us. Location can’t really be beat, but altogether disappointing. Marriot much better for the money.
