During my 3 night stay, a storm caused a power outage at the hotel. The staff was extremely accommodating and did everything they could to ensure our meeting continued and that we were all fed and comfortable. Our leadership team commented about our resiliency in holding a meeting without power, but we couldn’t have done that without the hotel staff. I cannot say enough good things about them.

This place was a bit disappointing. It’s advertised as a luxury hotel, but it isn’t. I checked in ahead of time, but still had to go to the front desk and check in. The room was nothing special. There were holes in the headboards where lights should have been and the bedding was motel 6 quality. It looks the room hadn’t been updated for 10 years. The evening we checked in, the power went off due to strong winds and was still off when we checked out the next morning. The front desk did not offer any apologies. Also, the awning on the patio made a very loud banging noise all night. We called the front desk about it, but nothing was done. I would not recommend staying here.

We have stayed at the Portola many times--it is a beautiful hotel with a lovely view and easy walking distance to the wharf! The town is very walkable and a slightly longer stroll takes you to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. The staff is friendly and helpful. Two on-site restaurants have a delicious variety--I was able to find plenty of gluten free options! We attend the JazzBash by the Bay every year and look forward to our stay!

Good overall with exceptions as noted already. I did not enjoy dining at the tables in the atrium as it was cold and drafty. The hostess and servers were very good and we did enjoy our meals in the bar area where it was warmer and less like eating in a fishbowl.

We stayed at the Portola while attending a family wedding nearby. The pre- registration required a picture of your ID which I was uncomfortable sending, but the actual check-in was fast. We did have an alarm go off during our stay. The announcement about the alarm could not be heard in the rooms so those of us in our rooms were hanging out of our doors listening. It was a false alarm but I did go to bed with my coat and shoes nearby, just in case!
The hotel is central to Fishermen's wharf and close to many stores and restaurants. It is a great location for tourists.
