It’s been 7 years since we been back to Monterey. This is the third time we stayed at the monetary bay inn and it never fails expectations! The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The views from the room are beautiful and it’s a quiet area too. The only complaint is, I wish they had a microwave in the room. The continental breakfast was good like always.

We had a room that overlooked the Harbor/Marina toward the East - so we didn't get the full view of the Bay, but there are rooms that do have those views - obviously for a few $$$ more. The room was very comfortable for a couple and nicely decorated. The room had a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the spectacular views of the Bay. They even provide binoculars in the room for guests to view the Bay and wildlife.

Easy walk to shops and restaurants and the Monterey Bay Aquarium and along the waterfront sights. The staff was excellent. Continental breakfast was brought to the room. An order form is provided every day for you to leave on your door, which they pick up by midnight. You can even indicate when you want the breakfast to be delivered. Fresh fruit, decent pastries, etc., and plenty of good strong coffee! Great way to lounge and greet a beautiful morning as the sun streams into your room and the water sparkles in the Bay.

The only downside was the $25/day parking fee. But I guess that must be standard for hotels down in that area of Monterey. There is limited street parking and there is a pay parking lot a very short walk nearer to the harbor. I believe that you don't have to pay between 9pm and 6am, but don't quote me on that. We decided that I didn't want the hassle so we paid the hotel fee. The only other thing to nitpick was I thought that the color scheme of the hallways to your room seemed a bit drab and dark. But as I said, I am really nitpicking at this point.
Overall, I would highly recommend it for a great weekend getaway without the crowds of say a large hotel like the Monterey Plaza, which is just up the street. Even though they don't have a bar or restaurant in the Hotel (that I am aware of), you can just walk to any one of a multitude nearby. You can even have a cocktail in the piano lounge in the Monterey Plaza where they really need to tune the piano! Sad commentary for a supposedly higher-end hotel. But that's another story.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Mid-range priced hotel with million-dollar views of Monterey Bay. Very clean, well decorated facility with many interesting finishing touched. Beds are comfortable, the balcony has a little table, chairs, and a large potted geranium. Each night in the courtyard, they light the fire in the pit which is next to the jacuzzi. Parking is underneath the hotel. A continental breakfast is brought to your room at a time of your choosing. The managers and hotel staff were all helpful and friendly. I hope to stay there again.
