Enjoyed a two-night stay recently in the Rosemary Room of this consistently excellent European-style boutique hotel, in Oakhurst, outside the Yosemite National Park. While other properties may race to continuously update and modernize, this chateau holds firmly to its classic, comfortable European roots. Gracious, welcoming service is the hallmark here – from the moment the property gate swings open to admit your car to the private chateau driveway, through the seamless check-in process, morning breakfast, and efficient check-out, the feeling is much more like being at home with friends than an impersonal hotel-stay. Room was cozy, and amply-sized for two, with a luxuriously comfortable canopy-style bed and a large soaking tub plus shower. The chateau itself is just steps from the famous Erna’s restaurant, open nightly for dinner, and featuring a classic European cuisine well-suited to the chateau’s ambiance. Overall, a delightful base for Yosemite explorations. Will certainly look forward to future visits!

Stayed 3 nights at this beautiful chateau. We were in the Lavender room. Even though it was the smallest, we think we had the best view. Getting in and out of the shower/tub is a bit tricky and there is a step up in the bathroom that you could easily trip over in the middle of the night. Other than those things our visit was spectacular. Greeted on arrival by the staff and there was always someone around if we needed anything. Breakfast was not only delicious, it was beautifully presented. Had 2 dinners at the Elderberry House. Delicious!!! Very unlike us, we even gave up a day at the park to just stay and enjoy the Château. The grounds are beautiful.

My wife and I stayed here after touring Yosemite and were over whelmed with the Chateau. Service is impeccable, grounds are spectacular and the room was a joy. The charm of the place is underlined by the remarkable staff. Special thanks to Richard
(a serious gin expert) and Riley who made us feel so welcome. Perfect stay, enhanced by dinner at Erna's. More than worth the hour drive from Yosemite and not to be missed.

Room Tip: all rooms we saw were great and be sure to walk the grounds. Richard will bring you your drink of choice from the restaurant.

Chateau du Sureau, s a fantstc place to stay, has old european charm and they go first class in everything. Folks are outside to get yu on arrival and call you by name,, touches like that are things that make it upscale, person and top quality.
Ye, it is out of the way, three roads were closed for us to get there, but we ad it another way, albeit longer, but we were so glad we persisted. It was a night to remember! The dinner was also superb, The food they prepare there is out of this world top notch, and every so tastefully (literally) done! We have been there about four times now and will definitely return, perhaps for Christmas next year. We also had the honor to meet Erna, and she is lovely! I can see what her chateau is what it is!

Thanks, merci, Pam

Chateau du Sureau is essentially a European-style chateau hotel improbably set in a California foothill town about an hour's drive from Yosemite National Park. We stayed as a three-generation group for three nights in two rooms. My wife and I stayed in the Elderberry Room while my son, his wife, and our two grands, aged 5 and 8 stayed in the Ciboulette Room. Our stay was perfect, with outstanding comfort and service in the Chateau and exquisite dining at the restaurant, Erna's Elderberry House. When you stay here and visit Yosemite, it's like getting two vacations in one. The feeling you get at the Chateau is that you're an invited guest at a country house weekend. There just happens to be a bill discreetly presented on an iPad just before departure. The staff is outstandingly competent, polished and friendly. Don't miss this experience!

Room Tip: The Elderberry Room has windows on three sides. The Ciboulette Room will accommodate four. Perfect for a three-generation group.
