The power went out in the Monterey Peninsula on New Year’s Eve. We left a different hotel because they had nothing to offer under the circumstances. We were met at the door of the Martine by Carmen. She showed us to our room, provided lanterns and candles, offered extra blankets, and extended the time for wine and hors d’oeuvres so we would not be rushed. The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of eggs Florentine, sausage, and fresh fruit while soaking in the glorious ocean view. The staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are lovely and furnished with beautiful antiques. We’ll be back!

Room tip: There is a parking lot below the Inn, but you can unload on Fourth St. to avoid hauling your things up so many stairs.

We booked the Victorian Room which is listed as great for lovers. Found out why…no guest room borders it, wall, ceiling or floor. Truly fantastic views of the ocean and sounds of the surf. You will not miss a television, as the ocean is mesmerizing. People come from around the world to experience the oceanfront walk. At The Martine Inn, all you have to is stroll across the street after your included breakfast in the dining room which directly overlooks the ocean on Oceanside Avenue. Mr. Don Martine personally crafted a unique hospitality experience at his exceptional inn through years of hands-on labor. The staff are also exceptional in their attentiveness and warmth. They went above and beyond to accommodate a special request. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I discovered it many years ago from a friend who said her anniversary trip was complete with staying here and walking the coastal path…as was my most recent anniversary trip. SUPER ROMANTIC. Cannot wait to return.

Room tip: All rooms are nice. You can save by choosing a room not overlooking the ocean. There are sitting rooms that do.

If you are looking for a great place to relax, this is it. Choose from ocean view rooms, courtyard rooms or plain room for the budget conscious. Either way you are right across the street from the ocean.

Just spent 3 nights at the Martine Inn it was absolutly fantastic, we booked the Parke room which has wonderful views on 3 sides of the waves crashing against the rocks.

I know some people have commented of the decor but this is all part of the charm, its cozy and really quaint. The beds were spotless and comfy and each morning the chef prepared a freshly cooked breakfast which was excellent.

The staff were helpful and any requests were actioned, they even had cheese and wine included at 5pm each evening.

The position of the Inn was perfect with a short walk to the Aquarium and restaurants, we had a car and explored the area, including Carmel and Monterey, they have a 17 mile drive at Pebble Beach which you don't want to miss

Thank you Martine Inn for a wonderful holiday

Room tip: Front view room

This was a charming bed and breakfast with water views. Staff was super and friendly with every encounter. Yummy breakfast served on a silver platter. I felt fancy. Great views of ocean life seen from the bed and breakfast. Seen whales, seals and sea otters. Room was small but charming. Great walkable town
