This is not a bog standard motel. Old building, well built, well kept up. Fireplace I think i every room with a Duraflame log for the evening. Wonderfully relaxing. a couple of blocks from Monarch butterfly sanctuary. Convenient to beaches and restaurants. Nicest staff we've encountered in ages.

Really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend for someone looking for a nice reasonably priced hotel. The fireplace in the rooms was an extra benefit! They even had a decent breakfast for these COVID times!!

Stayed here for two nights with my hubby as part of a California road trip. The hotel is not a resort - it could do with a major upgrade and modernising. Our room was comfortable and average size, compared to other American rooms we have stayed in, it was cosy. It was however well kept and clean. Nice enough and we enjoyed the stay. Both mornings we opted to grab some breakfast and take it to our room to eat. Far nicer than the cramped room that breakfast was served in, the hotel does need to sort this out and offer breakfast in a proper servery or restaurant.

The pool area seemed nice - we’d had a long day driving up and down route 1 so welcomed a soak in the Spa pool!

We found the service to be helpful and did enjoy our brief stay here. Excellent location for nearby attractions, golf, Monterey and driving scenic routes.

First of all, expensive for what you get. The room was clean but dark. More lighting is needed. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was good - very good danish! It did have a coffee maker in the room, and an elevator helped with heavy luggage.

We stayed in Room 201 on the night of Saturday July 13th 2019. The floor in the bathroom had traces and smudges of what appeared to be blood, and somebody's leftover food was still in the fridge.

I was told by management that the staff responsible for cleaning the upstairs rooms comprises mostly 16-18yr old men, and they often look over certain items on the cleaning checklist.

Make sure you stay in a lower floor if you come to this hotel. Besides that, everything was fine.

Room tip: choose a room on first floor
