From the moment you check in, the celebrity treatment begins. The staff accommodates your needs as if they recognize you from Hollywood; and although the place seems as old as Bob Hope himself, that can be easily overlooked when the hip, young staff and beautiful blue waters of the swimming pool refresh you from the heat. Chris energized me at check in after my drive across the desert, and being able to fix my kids a pancake breakfast in the in-room kitchen before taking a dip in the pool kept my vacation at my pace, not at the slow pace of restaurant detours. I was unpacked, fed and in the pool before I had even been in town an hour. The suites leave something to be desired when it comes to modern decor; but they are twice the size of my college apartment with living room, bar, dining room, kitchen and two bathrooms all in addition to the double queen bedroom and double balcony. The kitchen is full size too, with refrigerator to match, and a dishwasher to clean the stuff they have stocked in the cupboards. You can take your meat down to the BBQ for grilling, they'll fire it up for you, or you can heat a can of Spaghettio's for the kids on the stove before you go out for dinner and drinks downtown. Stay a few days, bring a stocked cooler, and leave your car in the garage because you can walk everywhere you need to go from its central location. With the money you save on the price of the room you can afford to shop and eat and revel in Palm Springs like you just won big at the casino across the street. A getaway at the Marquis Villas is as fabulous as you are.
