My friend and I stayed only one night, but found the room and owners exceptional in hospitality and value. Ed and Larry recommended restaurants (we ate outside at Matchbox--cool night but with overhead heaters and the fire pit it was comfortable) and the drink and food were delicious. The warm pool at 10pm with 50 degree weather felt wonderful, and the bed was very comfortable. Kitchenette accomodations were first rate. We missed the celebrity home tour bus but Ed had a map of the many stars' residences and we GPS'd ones we wanted to see and found them with no problem. Larry has a favorite route to Las Vegas that bypasses most of the freeways that we took and it was wonderful. We drove through desert, Joshua trees, the historical train station of Kelso, and other lovely scenery. I would recommend taking 3-4 hours during daylight hours for this drive, giving lots of time to stop, sightsee, and photograph the views. Fill up with gas in Twenty-nine Palms, CA as facilities after that are scarce til Las Vegas.

3 nights with Larry and Ed as hosts was a perfect experience. High comfortable beds with exquisite linen and waves of cushions to sink into! Baskets of fresh towels and lovely soaps; clean kitchen with the general necessities to have your own little meals off on the individual tucked away outdoor dining spot for two for each of the exquisite little units. The units (4?) circle a sparkling clean sun-catching swimming pool. Around it's perimeter is comfortable poolside furniture which often offers conversation to other guests at the time; as well as the opportunity to share with our hosts their lovely stories of Palm Springs and all it has to offer! Baskets of oranges from their trees, as well as organic mangellas from neighbour's trees were offered in large baskets at the doorway! Paraphonalia; fountains; sculptures; a sit-up bar...all offers a "kickey" fun southern California time-gone-by flavour that ends up being so very comfortable. Thank you to Ed and to Dr. Larry for yet another fabulous stay!

Larry and Ed were fabulous hosts who bend over backwards to make sure your stay is perfect with candid information on local sights and eateries. If the weather had cooperated with us we would have enjoyed relaxing by the pool. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. We had a great time there and would go back in a second.

We had the most wonderful time at the Old Ranch Inn. Ed and Larry were our gracious hosts and made us feel like we were visiting friends instead of staying at a hotel. The Inn is within walking distance to Palm Canyon Drive and close to the mountains for hiking. The pool was a clean and warm, the hotel was spotless, quiet and decorated adorably and as I mentioned earlier our hosts were amazing and left no detail unturned. We can't wait to return!!

Stayed at the Inn thanks to the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was our first time in Palm Springs and we were overall, happy with our choice. Much has been said about Ed and Larry and indeed, they are nice hosts, accommodating to the point of where they picked us up at the airport both on arrival and departure. The neighborhood is excellent for wandering and close to the major shopping area. The grounds are very nice, well tended to, and the pool provides a very lovely setting. Our room was very large and spacious. My only complaint looking back was that our room smelled quite musty and the bed was quite hard. WE did buy candles to take care of the odd smell so it wasn't a chronic problem. It would have been nice to have had a fire at night but Ed and Larry do disappear and it was never lit. We still really liked the place because it was so small in scale and comfortable and in a fantastic location. I do, however, think the price is a little steep since we paid close to $200 a night. It may need to be revisited by the owners since there were vacancies all over town when we were there.
