We were staying close to this small strip mall and noticed the sign, we then checked the impressive reviews and decided to dine there. What a great decision! Simple menu with great offerings, we had chicken meat balls and the shaking beef. Awesome food, great service. Its a small place so lines are the norm and its worth the wait.

Love love love Rooster and the Pig. Inexpensive, unique, delicious. Not tacky or touristy. Yes there is usually a wait, so go early if you want to avoid dealing with that. But it's worth it. Everything is tasty, fresh and well crafted. Wish there would be more places in PS like it.

We got there about 7:30 and had about a 15 min wait. We expected longer. Friendly people waiting with you!

The food was outstanding. We had the asparagus summer roll and the Crispy Red Snapper with black rice. Oh goodness was it delicious!

Service was acceptable and all the waitstaff were friendly. We did not have a problem with the host and he was nice to us.

The place was packed, it is small, only 48 tables. Good turnover rate.

We will go back!

If you're into public humiliation, please go here and ask for Michael, the host. He'll be happy to indulge you.

We came into town this week for a funeral after losing a childhood friend to cancer and to be together with family for Mother's Day. We were raised here, with our parents coming here almost 50 years ago. We have our go to restaurants - from the long standing to the new - Las Casuelas (always great and fun!), LuLu's (great for people watching and a varied menu!), Melvyn's (do not miss this wonderful 'old school' PS hot spot!). Last night we thought we'd try something new and we made our way to Rooster and the Pig. Here's what occurred:

The scene
- small and packed, with a long wait outside
- the host Michael - arrogant, loud and extremely rude
- an unmanned clip board you sign into if no one is there to greet you (which is most of the time)
- people stressed out, not knowing if they'll even get in

The worst part of all, the host not only feels the need to humiliate the patrons, but also actually pits people against each other as they wait for a coveted table. We were told he moves people up to the front of the list if they flip him cash, which we saw happen as people were seated out of order. We experienced his rudeness firsthand as he made a spectacle first of me when I told him my husband and son were walking over from 50 feet away after we'd waited 30 minutes for a table. He gave me two minutes to rush them over before giving our table away. He publicly counted down the time to show everyone he possessed the power to decline us, even though my son got there within the first minute. My husband arrived about a minute later and he not only berated him, he actually refused to seat us at all because my husband asked him why he gave our table away. He was hostile, threatening and oddly showy - as if he gained something by publicly berating my family. Other patrons were shocked, most not knowing what to do, some (who had drinks in their hands) being happy we were off the list so they could be moved up. We walked away, stressed and humiliated, but with enough clarity to understand this wasn't about us. Our son quickly pulled up other Yelp reviews and saw that this happens over and over - including Michael accepting cash to move people to the head of line.

Bottom line: don't go here until the owner realizes his host is into berating the guests. No matter how good the food may be, it's not worth the stress. There are literally hundreds of fantastic restaurants in downtown PS where you will be greeted with open arms, treated with respect and experience fantastic ambiance and food. Trio, Jake's, 360 North, Al Dente, Riccio's and Blue Coyote are just a few. They will earn your patronage through their quality food and hospitality.

Michael, we suggest you learn from them or find another industry before you run your poor boss out of business. And PS - we went to Zin after you berated us. Fantastic, with one of the most courteous hosts in town!
