After checking into our hotel, we decided it was time for something to eat. The California Pizza Kitchen was next door to our hotel, so we opted to grab lunch to take advantage of the outside seating. The temperature was in the single digits when we left the Midwest compared to 80 degrees in Pasadena. Therefore, it was obvious as to why we choose to have lunch outside. The hostess was friendly and found us a nice table so we could soak up a few rays as we ate our lunch. The food and service were good. We ate here a second time a couple of days later. Granted the California Pizza Kitchen is a chain, but I have never been disappointed with the menu options, service, and quality of food.

We had visited the Rose Parade Route to be prepared for the New Year’s Day Parade. We wanted to find a near by location that we could enjoy lunch out in the beautiful weather.
We found CPC who had a wonderful out door patio which also has outdoor heaters. The Service, and the food was outstanding. We enjoyed the chopped salad, and two pizzas. This a great casual restaurant with great food and in a great location.

Three cheers to California Kitchen and members of the Pasadena Fire Department for teaming up in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Once I was sure that the fire trucks parked nearby weren’t in active service, I soon realized that this forward-thinking eatery was hosting an important community event (the firefighters serving guests alongside the regular staff--many wearing pink T-shorts reinforcing the theme).

Starting off with a Sam Adams draft proved to be an excellent choice for the cup of potato baked soup (a.k.a. Sedona Tortilla--the chippy topping an ideal contrast to the main event).

The main--Jambalaya Fettuccine--featured a generous amount of seafood, zesty sauce and al dente noodles. What better to go with that than a glass of mark West Pinot Noir?

So good to see fine food taking a back seat to one of the more challenging issues of our day and everything done up with timely service and a few laughs with first responders and servers alike.
