AFTER A 45 MINUTE WAIT, THE HOSTESS SLAMMED A GLASS DOWN ON OUR TABLE SHATTERING IT IN OUR FACES. Sometimes, the only responsible course of action is to leave a bad review. BE FOREWARNED. This was the WORST, RUDEST treatment I have ever received in a restaurant. Briefly, our party had 7:45 p.m. reservations. We arrived early, 7:35 p.m., because we like to be on-time or a few minutes early. We gathered cheerfully at the bar, had one alcoholic beverage per party member followed by Pellegrino over the course of our 45-minute standing wait, meaning, we were not drunk or unruly. We noticed that we were being continually passed up for parties that came in after us and politely inquired about our remaining wait. Finally, the hostess, who was increasingly dismissive toward us said we could have a table, which she pointed out. After the guests at that table left, we sat, because we had been standing for going on an hour. We even gathered up the debris left by the previous guests in the center of the table to be helpful. The hostess at that point came over and told us to get up so that she could clean the table. We pointed out that we had already bussed it for her and that we should be able to sit while the table was being set since we had been waiting for so long. She got so mad that she SLAMMED A GLASS DOWN ON THE TABLE, SHATTERING IT IN OUR FACES and stormed off. The next thing we knew the chef showed up with a belligerent attitude asking us who made his employee cry, no inquiry about what happened. He did not seem to believe or care that the hostess literally shattered a glass in our faces. At that point, I asked him if he would like us to leave and he said, “Yes.” Wow! Unreal. No apology. No concession that we had been waiting patiently almost an hour, no effort whatsoever to “make it right for the customer.” All of us were repeat patrons. And yet, it gets worse! The people at the table that was seated before us (and next to us) but had reservations AFTER us stood and started yelling profanities at us. “Yeah, get out bitch!” from a man at that table to me! I never once used profanity or was impolite. I believe, however, that the people at that table, the ones yelling profanities at us, were related to someone working at the restaurant. The manager never came out to speak to us, though we asked for him. We were all so astonished that we wondered if the hostess was related to someone running the restaurant, as well. She definitely lied about her behavior and what had happened. So, there you have it. Photo included.

Cool location in downtown Roseville, but that's where the plusses stop. Food is meh, service slow, don't expect to be seated quickly even if you have a reservation. We ordered the Funditta as an appetizer and it was overbearing with fig. Main courses were bland, but the service was terrible. High prices for Olive Garden type food.

Had some friends in from out if town and hadn’t been here in well over a year so we stopped for dinner. We had the same friendly and knowledgeable server the last time we were here. Service was solid and the food arrived promptly, hot, and as ordered. Loved the selections on the menu and the portion size was solid. Need to come here more often.

Two of us were very disappointed at our Friday night dinner. First, let me be clear: The Place is a very good restaurant. Any restaurant can have an off night. This was one of them.

I ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese and was richly rewarded with al dente pasta, a terrific bolognese sauce and a couple of nice Mikey's Meatballs. But my wife was disappointed with her Clams Linguini. Too few clams and only a couple with decent clam meat. I think The Place used manila clams, which are really low quality. Perhaps that's all they found available. The photo reveals the story.

The second disappointment was Chicken Parm. The breaded filet of breast was literally burned. You can see this in the photo. Knowing that the rest of us would stop eating to wait for a replacement if she sent it back, our friend simply ate around the burn and took most of the dish home.

A third complaint is the website. The owner responded to this complaint in simple form on Google, asking me to contact him via the website Contact page. Well, it doesn't work. I tried three times using my laptop and smartphone.

Bottom line: we will return to The Place! We've enjoyed many good meals here.

Eight of us just spent 3 hours in this place and totally enjoyed ourselves. The service was great. Not invasive still attentive and personal. (Thank you, Mike)
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Good for a couple, for friends get together or for a chat with a friend. You can talk and hear each other! I'm so tired of those too loud places where you can't hear your partner.
The food was very good. Each of us complimented the chosen food: the appetizer: flatbread with olive oil and roasted garlic, two pizzas, margarita, and mushroom, two different kinds of pasta, ravioli. Everything was very good.
The wines were very pleasant as well.
Plus, charming location in old downtown in Roseville.
Strongly recommend the place.
