Owner description: CuriOdyssey is a serious science playground where kids can observe wild animals and experiment with real scientific phenomena. As a non-profit science museum and zoo, CuriOdyssey lets kids loose to observe wild animals, experiment with scientific phenomena and let the natural world answer their questions. We treat kids like the geniuses they are. Children can play with custom exhibits where they experiment and investigate the fundamental forces in nature while having fun. They see rescued native wildlife that includes river otters, bobcats, and raptors in a walk-through aviary. CuriOdyssey offers educational and fun science programs and camps with professional educators that give students experiences with phenomena that encourage inquiry and develop critical thinking. See the CuriOdyssey website for special events and special hours. https://curiodyssey.org

A great place in the beautiful setting of Coyote Point. The was totally worth the thirty minute drive from our home. All in our three generation family enjoyed it.
CuriOdyssey itself is excellent for kids. It's a good, approachable, not overwhelming size, with a small but beautifully done animal zoo and aviary. There are set times for animal feedings. The written signs' explanations are clear, with just enough information. Hands-on activities both outdoors and in the building are great, and kept all the kids we saw fascinated for long times. There are gorgeous views of the Bay, up to San Francisco, from both inside the exhibit building, and from the walking trail outside this lovely site. There's a beach, but we didnt make it there on this trip. If your kid likes airplanes, there's a bonus: close-up views of planes landing at SFO. The gift shop has a nice collection of science and animal-oriented items. All staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
Note that there is no food concession inside (just packaged snacks and drinks in the gift shop) so bring a picnic lunch and enjoy, as many were doing when we visited.

There is a good mix of animals and science exhibits here. Nice setting in San Mateo with all the eucalyptus trees surrounding it. Terrific for kids 2-6.

Loved taking our Grandson there as he explored science, we were equally moved into the excitement and exploration.
A good way to involve all family members in why, how and what they saw, did and the wonders of science in the world around us.

This is a fun hands-on science museum and zoo, for small kids. Note: Both are very small, so a few hours would be perfect. It's in a great location too with fun hiking and views of jet airplanes landing at San Francisco airport.

This is a fun, interactive, easy to get to, park, etc., place for kids to have hands on learning experience in the sciences and interaction with animals. You can take a picnic and the kids can play in the awesome playground near the museum. If you don't live too far away, consider a membership and you can go often!
