Owner description: CuriOdyssey is a serious science playground where kids can observe wild animals and experiment with real scientific phenomena. As a non-profit science museum and zoo, CuriOdyssey lets kids loose to observe wild animals, experiment with scientific phenomena and let the natural world answer their questions. We treat kids like the geniuses they are. Children can play with custom exhibits where they experiment and investigate the fundamental forces in nature while having fun. They see rescued native wildlife that includes river otters, bobcats, and raptors in a walk-through aviary. CuriOdyssey offers educational and fun science programs and camps with professional educators that give students experiences with phenomena that encourage inquiry and develop critical thinking. See the CuriOdyssey website for special events and special hours. https://curiodyssey.org

I can't say enough about this place i.e. "CuriOdyssey"....for those of you familiar with "children or family Discovery Museums', this is very similar or better...there are ~100, well cared for, live animals on display (small zoo), a great curio/souvenir shop & in the main building there are many interactive exhibits to entertain kids/family & lots of clean bathrooms...with Large picture windows looking out over the nearby ocean, a few feet away, & a wonderful view of the many airliners landing at San Francisco International Airport just minutes apart (mesmerizing to watch)!...the entire facility is built in a State Park called "Coyote Point" (in San Mateo, California) just a few miles from San Mateo & Foster City California...this park has a narrow yet long beach where you can view 'Wind Surfers' or splash in the water, a boat Marina, Golf Course, picnic area and the whole area/point is a tree studded piece of land that juts out on a high bluff overlooking the pacific ocean (breathtaking to walk around entire area) and includes many bathroom facilities. I would encourage anyone interested to go to their website at: 'curiodyssey.org' so as to obtain all the relative info, directions etc.
This is one of our favorite "not well known" attractions.

Our grandchildren loved CuriOdyssey. There are many 'hands on' activities that kept them occupied for a long time. The small zoo area was fun, too. They loved the fox, otters and raccoon.
