Wow we saw so many elephant seals in one place! It’s all free of charge, just pull up and look over and there they all are. It’s truly a unbelievable site. You can see all the different personalities they have. The males have the longer noses and the females have the short ones. Great day on the coast!

Early November features younger males who "haul out" to hang out. They practice some of the dominance techniques that will be useful later for getting to mate. The grunting sounds of these big sea animals was fun to hear, reminding me of teenage human boys trying to burp the loudest. There is a fairly long boardwalk, which I would recommend hiking both directions in order to see beaches with many animals not fully visible from nearest the parking area. Binoculars are also helpful, if you can bring them.
Highly recommended, for a nice hour with nature.

The annual migration of these amazing mammals at the same beaches of San Simeon and at the same period of the year is definitely a manifestation of nature's wonderful creation.

Definitely worth a visit especially if you are at Hearst Castle. It is a free attraction and only 4 miles from Hearst Castle. There were hundreds of elephant seals across the beach when we were there. They are the cutest!!!
