We are locals and don't go out to dinner often, but we almost always enjoy Spindleshanks. We've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, actually. The breakfast is a great alternative to the other places around the North Lake. The portions are sizeable and cooked just right. For dinner, I really like the nightly specials, but the Spinach salad with Asian pears, candied pecans and goat cheese is our must have before dinner. The Muscovy Duck is prepared perfectly (not too dry!) and their wine menu has a decent selection of wine by the glass. Our only drawback is they tend to be a bit pricey, especially the dinners--portions are a decent size, but more expensive. In many other restaurants, I tend to have some of my meal to take home because of the portion size. Not here.
The atmosphere is varied; there are 4 different areas each with it's own "feel". Of course the deck seating is only available in season. For dinner, we like the fireplace room, but enjoy breakfast in the room past the bar.
