The good:
-the location is very good, walking distance from downtown and gondola
-Can use amenities like bowling, pool etc at the sister property (one ski hillplace)
-has free shuttle system to take you around on call which was super helpful
-has a nice pool
-well equipped kitchen with very good quality pots and pans
-free coffee, tea in the main hall/room
-free common laundry on each floor

The not-so-good:
-not sure how it’s rated this high
-the rooms really need upgrading, especially the carpets smell so musty. We changed the room twice but even then we weren’t super happy about the carpet
-the sofa bed also were all old and looked dusty. They were super uncomfortable to sleep in with spring touching your back
-some of the balconies could be facing the parking lot so make sure you ask for a good room with good views
-staff wasn’t rude but not friendly either

I wouldn’t stay here next time considering it isn’t cheap!

Well equipped condo in a great location. Easy access to town and gondola, with ski off access. Short walk to hot tub. Shuttle bus was a great option if you wanted to skip the gondola, or explore Peaks other than Peak 8.

The lodge is nice and mountain themed. The location is tricky. We were told multiple times upon booking that it is a ski in walk out to gondola resort. Well mid April this is not true at all. When there is not a lot of snow there is 0% chance of skiing in. It’s far down and as the days warm, the path leading to the lodge melts , quickly. They need to be more honest. Also , if you have little kids, the walk to the gondola is not easy. It’s down a bunch of stairs and up a bunch. It was really hard for us and after one day of it we ended up driving across the street and paying for parking. When we did that we realized the premium cost to be “ski in” and easily accessible to gondola was no longer the case. We could have stayed literally anywhere and parked at the gondola. This is something people with young kids MUST know. The positive is the 2 Br unit was really spacious. It was wel laid out with a nice balcony and fully stocked. UNIT 5201 did not provide garage parking which in the winter would not be great. Also it backs to the jacuzzis which get quite rowdy at night. While the unit was nice , the location really didn’t work for our young family and because of that we would not stay there again. Also the mgmt company Pinnacle forces you to drive 20 minutes to their office to get keys and return keys. There is a lobby with staff at the lodge and for some odd reason they can not provide the room keys. Not very user Friendly.

Room tip: Be prepared to maybe just drive down the street and across to make life easier at gondola

Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resorts Management Company property, are aware that their roller shades offer ZERO privacy at night.
That's right. Both bedrooms and the living room are totally visible to anyone on the patio next door, in the neighboring buildings, or walking or driving by.

We stayed here for our teen daughter's spring break during the first week of April. From inside, we had no idea that at night anyone outside can see right in. We had ZERO privacy and didn't realize until the end of our stay.

We spoke with management regarding this and their solution was to offer a maintenance person to come hang a sheet over the inside of our windows. They refused to move us or change out the blinds. They also refused to take any responsibility and claimed it was up to the actual condo owner to alert us that any random person in a neighboring condo, or walking or driving on the street could see right into our condo at night.

We rented the condo directly from Mountain Thunder Lodge, a Vail Resort at Breckenridge. We have no idea who actually owns the condo.

They did offer to refund us the $30 daily resort fee. We spent $4,000 on our one week stay. They also had the audacity to charge us an extra $175 when we asked for a late checkout.

Guests should have every expectation of privacy in bedrooms. This resort clearly does not care about the safety and well-being of their guests.

We also asked management to have a representative of their legal team contact us. It has been 10 days since we checked out and we have not heard from anyone.
I cannot recommend this resort and would give it zero stars if I could.

Room tip: Go outside at night and check to be sure no one can see you naked in your bedroom

We booked our stay back in August through Epic for an early March visit. We were re-assured when we booked TWO units that they would be next door to each other since there was not a townhome large enough to house all 9 of us. Prior to arriving, I called MTL 2x to confirm that they had it noted that we needed two units directly next door since we were family traveling together with kids. I was told it was noted (NEVER was it said that it wasn't even possible based on the units rented). Upon arrival, not only was I told that our units weren't next door (or even close!) but that whoever was in unit 701 had to MOVE after two nights to accommodate the owners who wanted to get some non-urgent work done in the unit! I could not believe it. This was booked in August 2021. The woman at the front desk upon check-in told us that her manager had supposedly tried calling us. This was COMPLETELY false as we had no missed calls, messages or emails! We were there for 4 nights so to pack up two kids and move halfway through our stay was a MAJOR inconvenience. We asked if the manager could call us first thing in the morning (arrives at 7:30am) to discuss this matter. She apparently finally found time to call at 2pm when she clearly knew we'd be up on the mountain. This was definitely not an urgent concern of hers. After an unbelievably unpleasant conversation, she told us we had to move and never apologized. We were told housekeeping would move our luggage for us and she would comp us $40/day for resort fees. Hardly makes up for the inconvenience! We had to completely pack up! To make matters worse, they told us we had to be out by 11am and might not be able to get into our new unit until 4pm. Not a problem for us skiers but my husband was not skiing that day and planning to work. Thankfully we did get a call that the unit was available early afternoon. It was just incredibly bothersome that they were absolutely OK with shorting us 5 hours of a rental that we had already paid for! Lastly, when we went to check out, we called to see if we could get a noon check-out. Seamed to be a reasonable request given what we had been through. We were told NO and when we went to leave at 11am, housekeeping was basically stalking us in the driveway. In the end, location is great, but they treat guests poorly. I had called Epic to see if there was anything they could do since we booked through them but that was not helpful either. I would not recommend and will never stay here again. Never in my life have I ever had an experience like this one.
