Peaceful remote lodge

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Oct 2016
We arrived late at night at the Hideaway Lodge - don't recommend a late arrival as the roads are pretty rough, but the welcome we received was worth every minute of every bump! The lodges were superbly equipped and very comfortable and roomy. Unfortunately for us we only booked one night just to see the Rio Celeste, if we had had more time we would have definitely booked more. The lodge had super grounds to walk round and its own hike down to the river. The food was amazing and it would be difficult to single out any particular dish, all the food was cooked and prepared to perfection. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and we were so sad to leave. Their website has a very accurate description. We will be back.

Dear cmarsh57,

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us! We do agree that one night is not enough to enjoy all that Rio Celeste Hideaway has to offer. We recently spent 3 nights at Rio Celeste Hideaway because I am planning on having my wedding there next June and wanted to scope it out before committing. This place is gorgeous from the second you pull up to the front guarded gate! They meet you with towels and a fresh welcome drink before shuttling you to your amazing room. The rooms are huge not just big but huge. I admit they do smell a little musty t first but it fades fast. There is a pool with 3 hot tubs. They offer massage which I had with Juan Carlo and he was fantastic. The walk to the river inside the hotel was nice and not hard at all. The restaurant had wonderful food. The grounds are just stunning to walk through. You truely feel away from it all.
ALL of the staff that we encountered went well above and beyond. Everyone was always friendly and helpful and could even remember our names. Marilyn is helping with my wedding planning and she was just ao kind and truely excited about my big day. I had a problem with one of their previous employees prior to arriving and the current staff and manager Oscar did all they could to fix the problem. You can tell customer satisfaction is a priority here. We can not wait until we return here!

We spend two nights at this hotel, and enjoyed very much. The plus that it is secluded and quiet, very close to nature, with great facilities - a big swimming pool with 3 hot pools attached to it, a spacious room with an outside shower (very cool) and a mini bar. The hotel has a main area where you can sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book).

I think what really stood out was the quality of the service and the amazing food they serve at the restaurant there - they offer a la carte menu for lunch and dinner and the food is simply amazing - we are all our meals there for 3 days and can honestly say that everything we ordered was tasty, some of the dishes extraordinary, such as the tricolor ceviche, the espresso tenderloin, the red tuna with surimi. Simply amazing. Oh - I cannot forget the chocolate soufflé (one of the best desserts I ate ever). And all - with a smile.
Thank you for a great experience.

The only reason for 4 stars is the price of the drinks. I think they could be a little cheaper. Most expensive beers i paid for in Costa Rica. The food was great and the rooms were very nice. I enjoyed the pool also. All of the servers were very good. Very close to park and also has a nice easy hike to the blue river water on property.

    Dear TripAdvisor Member,

It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed the service at the hotel, we strive to constantly train our collaborators. Sorry to hear you felt beer prices were excessive, we will certainly take that into account and review beer menu and options to improve in that respect. Wonderful to hear you enjoyed the pool, trail, food and rooms. We expect you back at Rio Celeste Hideaway in 2017!

Really close to the park entrance, with a private trail to the famous light-blue river, and with fabulous facilities, this is the place to spoil yourself when visiting the area. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, with an outdoor shower and a hot tub, and the pool area is really nice. Staff is very attentive and food is good, though a bit on the expensive side. Totally worth the rough drive there.

All of the hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. Romantically tucked away in the rainforest, including a private walkway to Rio Celeste, and free amazing breakfast made this one of our top picks to return to.
