the motel is undergoing renovations, we had one of the remodeled rooms.. Staff couldnt of been nicer. Breakfast was included, waffles ,cereal , fruit, toast. the only noise at night was airconditioner in room, place is quiet. the location is excellent, minutes to garden of gods, and red rock canyon. cave of the winds and pikes peak within a 20 min drive. wi fi coverage in room, at&t cell phone coverage is not very good. happy hour 4 to 6, met a lot of interesting travelers from all over. themed for bike riders but all will feel welcome.

Room Tip: ask for a remodeled room

We chose this place for the price and because we could get a room that had a separate bedroom for the two 12-year-old girls we had with us. We stayed four nights. I was a little apprehensive knowing that the hotel is old and undergoing renovation but the room was fine, with a main room with bed, separate bedroom with door, and a full kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, toaster oven and a four-seat dinette. The room was definitely clean, I never felt that "yuck" feeling that makes you leave your shoes on or clean everything with sanitizing wipes I've experienced in some lower-priced hotels. It was very quiet at night. The location cannot be beat if you want to go to Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods or Old Colorado City. When we were there (July-August 2018) there was terrible road construction nearby that was tough to negotiate but that is definitely not the fault of the hotel and after a couple of days we got the hang of getting around it.
The Buffalo Lodge is definitely a work in progress but it suited our needs perfectly and we were happy with our choice. My only complaint was that the bed was sort of hard and limited on pillows--if you like to prop yourself up in bed bring additional pillows along! That aside, we would definitely stay here if we vacation in Colorado Springs again.

We really enjoyed the ambience at the Buffalo Lodge. It was our first stop in Colorado. The breakfasts were varied and ample. There were bikes we could use on property. The pool was cute. The property is very well situated for visits to the Garden of the Gods. It was neat to stay in a fixed up retro property. Looking forward to what it will look like in a couple years when the renovations are complete.

Unfortunately our hot tub would not function our first night. I was told my office staff that no credits can be made based on their policy. After two phone calls to the owner I still did not receive a return call, an apology, or any credit. This is bad business practice and I will not return to a place that cannot make it right.

After a small problem with our first room, we were quickly and easily moved to a new (and nicer) room. The motel has had some improvements, but still needs a little TLC. It has a fun atmosphere and potential to be a really nice motel. There was construction in the area, which made walking and driving a challenge. We didn't really feel safe walking to dinner that evening. The internet didn't work very well unless our door was open and cell phone service wasn't good near the motel (we have AT&T). I got frustrated at breakfast because people were standing in the way and there wasn't anywhere for us to sit, but I can't complain much, because it was free breakfast. Overall, it was an okay place to stay for one night. The room was clean and we slept well.
