This hotel was the best thing about our stay in Cripple Creek. Bed comfortable, WiFi worked, check in was easy. Decor was pleasingly quaint; parking was convenient; shower worked; and service was pleasant. No complaints.
The town of Cripple Creek, however, was another question. The town has been ruled by outside greed interests. First mining, now gambling. The casinos have completely taken over the downtown, so the historic, brick storefronts are now a facade for the blinking lights and stoney faces. If that's what you like, fine, but I find it depressing.
Getting to Cripple Creek takes you through breathtaking country, so if if this your destination, the St. Nicholas will make you comfortable.More
