Local friends recently took us to Acorn- we tried a variety of dishes (that is part of the shtick). When our friends recommended the kale salad I was a bit hesitant: everyone has a kale, apple, nut salad.(yawn) But this salad was Devine! When a restaurant can take the tired (bitter) masses of kale and make it superb; that shows an understanding of flavor that is anything but routine.
We also loved the baby Yams...caramelized with a bit of saltiness. The shrimp and grits were quite nice.
We were split on the gnocchi- I could take it or leave it myself- fairly bland. But our companions gladly polished it off.
The Beer options were helpfully explained and complemented the food well. Water was plentiful and our glasses were rarely less than half full.
We really had a delightful time, well worth braving the road construction!
