we first visited years ago, and keep going back--every time we drive through Empire, CO we stop for malts. Order one of dozens of flavors. Order a small (huge) medium, or large (gigantic) for an incredible treat. Add malt (+50 cents?) or "make it thick" (+80cents?) which means the shake/malt is very cold and stacked up above the rim of the cup as high as the cup is tall. Amazing. You'll probably have to wait in line, understandable and well work it.

Open since 1949, this is a tiny treasure just off of I 70 that should not be missed! Laid back, full of character and friendly folks, your meal is made to order and yummy. If you love ice cream, be sure to order your shake "not drinkable" and take advantage of the carte Blanche ability to create your own flavor combo with fresh fruit!! (Peach Raspberry was amazing) Take a step back in time and watch the hummingbirds outside while you savor your treat. Such fun!

On your way to the mountains, bulk up in preparation for the climb. Leaving the mountains depleted and in need of an energy boost? Either way this makes for an interesting stop and the shakes are homemade and truly unique (and yummy).
Under new management and still getting the logistics under control with their staff but bear with them, keep track of your order and enjoy.

Lewis sweet shop has so many things! Good prices, great food and sweets options and large portions. Fun staff, and atmosphere. From the decor to the giant jenga to play. This place just makes you want to hang out and relax after a fun day of playing on the mountain!

We stopped in for a late lunch after skiing. Service was efficient and very friendly. The restaurant is run by a local family. The BBQ was very tasty and the burger was juicy. Dessert is the highlight though. The shakes are extra thick and lots of flavors. The mountain berry pie was excellent. The crust was buttery and flaky. The portion was large enough to share. It is worth the short drive off the highway.
