This is a scenic wonder - the highest flattop mountain in the world - and only 1 hour from Grand Junction. Over 200 lakes, good trout fishing, trails, recreation, cabin rentals. Drive over or get off the main road and explore. Beautiful.

Not sure what the name of the road is that takes you through, but driving up/through the Grand Mesa is fantastic. I'm a big fan of views with bodies of water with mountains in the backround, and there are quite a few here. There is a visitor stop at about the midway point with a little lake or something on either side. If you are standing on the deck of the center, you overlook the lake and the mountains in the backround. It's a long trip, but I've done it 3-4 times just for that view there. Breathtaking.
