We stayed for a night very dated , run down but compared to the other hotels around this is the best choice unless you drive to golden co . No pool , very small breakfast, and no phones in the room . On a good note the rooms were creek side with a balcony so nice views !

I knew it was going to be an uncomfortable night when the ancient mattress creaked when I just sat on the bed. The room had a dank smell and we saw numerous bugs in the room, including a large spider who had taken up residence inside one of the folded bath towels. Couldn't enjoy the sound of the creek, because the patio door had no screen. Crumbs from a previous guest all over the rickety nightstand. I wouldn't even take a shower because the bathroom felt particularly nasty and old. Just don't.

1.The Argo Inn from the outside is charming. Our room had a little patio and faced the creek, which is a minute walk from most rooms. There are several sitting areas and grills located creekside of the property.
2. It is close to down town shopping and mines. Most of the area haunts are in walking distance.
3. Our room had a mini fridge, large tv, microwave, and a fireplace.
4. The room was pretty spacious and affordable.
5. Shower pressure is AMAZING.
6. AC unit rocks!
7. Breakfast included.

1.The bedroom area is in terrible need of updating. The furniture is outdated. The decor is very old fashioned. The carpet has little holes and is terribly stained. The sliding door sheers had rips and the curtain is coming off the tracks. The bed was very springy and old, but surprising ok. Also the room is dark overall. The sliding glass door does not lock from the outside, so if you explore the creek, be aware you must go through the front door of your room to ensure it is securely locked.
2. When you walk into the room, you see a sink area and separate bathroom. The mirror above the sink had old glue on it. The sink also had a crack and hole in it. The bathroom tile is filthy as is the shower. There is a lot of black mold in the caulking. The plastic shower liner is covered in mold.

Side note- this did not affect my rating, but must be noted. There is a ton of construction in the area and reduces traffic to one lane. The traffic is then routed through run down residential areas and backs up very quickly.

This hotel was not that great. Check in was easy. Room was not that nice. The view was the best thing. Clear creek river runs right behind the hotel. The beds were hard and bedding was paper thin. Carpet was nasty I would not walk around in bare feet. The two chairs in the room were so stained I would not let anyone sit in them. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Only muffins and pastries milk juice and coffee. We stayed two nights and housekeeping did not come and bring fresh towels or new coffee packets. We had to call the front desk from our cell phone since there was not phone in the room
No one picked up so we had to walk down to attempt to get coffee
Door was locked on the office at 6am. This looked like one of the best places to stay after we drove thru town when we arrived. Be advised Idaho Springs is under major road construction for at least two more years down in town and that makes it hard to walk around.Nice park for kids within walking distance. For the money I guess I expected a little more.

We wanted to stay in Idaho Springs on on travels back home from out west as this was a good way point for us and with limited options for hotels, we read all the reviews on line. Argo Inn and Suites seemed to have the best, with many saying the owners were friendly and the place was very clean. So, when we pulled up to the place, what should happen, but the owner was up on a ladder washing windows and he got right down and gave us a friendly "How are you all doing today? How can I help you?" So, it was evident that they take cleaning seriously and he was very friendly. He also steered us to a great place to eat for dinner that night.
Our room was a double queen room and overlooked the river, the decor is a little dated, but it was so clean and comfortable, that did not matter. The room had a couple quaint little touches like toothbrush, comb and other amenities. They also serve continental breakfast but we did not stay for that, as it was Mother's Day the next morning and we wanted something a bit more special. This was definitely a better stay than we thought it would be at first glance.
