Owner description: For more than a hundred years, this railway, the highest "cog" railroad in the world and the highest train in the U.S., has been transporting passengers to the summit of Pikes Peak.

Couldn’t go up as it needs renovations and the owners aren’t sure if or when they’ll be opening up again as the whole thing needs updating and costs are high.
Same as it’s a real icon still in the town.

Glad we made this trip two years ago, as it was just disclosed (3/15/18) that the Cog Railway will not open for the season and could be closed for at least the next three years orshut down permanently, if funds (as much as $10 million) are not available for massive rebuilds to the rails, infrastructure and equipment.

It is closed. No reason to visit Manitou Springs. The Train is close and Broadmoor owns everything else in town. Avoid ! Parking Cost $ ridiculous for this town

Enjoyed a ride up pikes peak back in 2017. Love the town that's located near the railway. Tons of great little shops with a supreme atmosphere that gets you away from city vibes. The entire process was easy. Great views on the way up,down, and at the summit. Gift shop at the top was a nice touch. Bought a few small items as souviners. Wish you could stay at the top for a little longer ( half hour ). Overall great experience and the memories will last a lifetime. If you're in the area grab some bbq from a local shop and then ride the cogg! So fun.

First timer, and what a memory! Loved everything about it, from parking attendants helping us to find a spot, to our guide lady in the train. The views on top, snow balls fight in August, everything was a story maker. If you are in the neighborhood, don't miss it.
