My first impressions of the hotel: sketchy road leading to the hotel, a receptionist behind a glass enclosure with a bull dog (albeit small one) beside her, and a beat-up elevator door. I got a great deal through Priceline Express Deal ($50 inclusive of fees), but oh no, what did I get myself into? Once I got over the gritty and industrial feel to the place, I felt the place was a reasonable deal (for the price I paid). The pros: (a) a well-mannered receptionist in spite of the glass cage and bull dog; (b) a very large room (#223) that feels almost like a suite (with king bed, microwave, small refrigerator with separate freezer door, desk, lounge table, coffee table, traditional TV and cable); (c) decent clientele (no drama or loud parties); (d) new carpeting inside the room and in hallway; (e) simple continental breakfast (milk, cereal, white/wheat/raisin bread, hot oatmeal, coffee, juice) ; (f) fitness center with 3 machines; (g) free wi-fi. The cons: (a) a decidedly industrial atmosphere in the neighborhood and lobby space; (b)18-wheelers with running refrigeration units that idle in the parking lot (drivers stay here for the night)--noise can be heard as a steady hum inside my unit but definitely much less noisy than the window heating system--still a nuisance though; (c) hallway being renovated.More
