The food here is authentic, fresh, freshly prepared, and delicious. We have tried a number of menu items and have been happy with it all. We've had buffalo jalapeno poppers (a special), moro/blackberry drink, iced tea, tacos, burritos, red cabbage slaw, and more. The quality and taste of the food is excellent. The restaurant is charming as well, and the staff is friendly. My only criticism is that the service tends to be slow, so if you're in a hurry, you may want to make this clear to the server or get your food to go. Great restaurant overall, though, and better than the other offerings in Middletown and the surrounding area.

We stopped in for an early dinner at a rather quiet time. The waitress very patiently explained what was in the different kinds of food. Between her helpfulness and the menu describing the various edibles in both English and Spanish, there is no reason one can't get a clear idea of what he or she is ordering.

The tamal I ordered as an appetizer was dry, with the masa crumbling as I took bites out of it. The soft corn flour tacos al pastor were better and juicier, but the filling looked more like ground beef than pulled and cubed pork.

The waitress offered us salsa and homemade corn chips in the middle of the meal, which we should have passed on. A: They're not free (most Mexican/Southwest restaurants don't charge for them, especially with meals) - tacky! B. They weren't even fresh! The chips tasted like they were a day old, and the salsa was of the bland type that tasted suspiciously like it came out of a jar. When I ordered poco de gallo to go with them, it didn't arrive until we were almost finished eating.

The tamarind margarita was refreshing, but you have to be specific as to whether you want your drink straight up or on the rocks. Mine arrived on the rocks, but it was still very good.

The service was reasonably paced. At no point did we feel rushed.

Three of us arrived around 5:45 pm on a Wednesday. We were the only customers to that point. Despite that, our food arrived lukewarm to almost cold. How does that even happen? The flavor and quality of the food was good, I wouldn't say great, even if it were hot. The margarita was good, fresh lime, but I really wanted it frozen but they don't make them. In my opinion, if it is a Mexican restaurant, they should. Blenders are not expensive. The waitress was truly a very polite and extremely sweet, but unfortunately, forgot to come back to give us our check for a long, long time. The prices were a bit high for the amount and quality of the food we received.

Four of us recently dined at this funky restaurant and were all pleased with the experience. The decor of toy iguanas and frogs is amusing, but the menu was sophisticated. We had tamales which are filled with chicken or pork - both excellent; shrimp ceviche and shrimp tacos also really good. Service was prompt and friendly, and we all vowed to return.

My fiance is basically an authentic mexican cuisine aficionado, non of that overly cheesy gooey stuff, fresh ingredients, well seasoned - and that is exactly what we got here. We had read about it in an online article and it did not disappoint. The margaritas are made with real lime juice, not too sweet. The fish tacos were to die for. It is not fancy, but the food was great!
