In a cute, comfortable setting on Whitney Avenue, a 5-minute walk from the college campus, Crepes Choupette is a gem of a little restaurant for breakfast, brunch, or a satisfying light meal later in the day. The savory crepes, made of buckwheat flour in the authentic Breton manner, are crisp and flavorful; the sweet crepes, made of whole-wheat flour, are light and not overly sweet. The service was friendly and the whole meal was surprisingly affordable. We will be back!

Our first dining-out experience in New Haven when visiting our newly relocated child was both tasty and friendly. We tried three of the crepes - Chatelete (ham, cheese), La Tartiflette (potato, onion, bacon, gouda, spinach), and Piaf (raspberry, white chocolate). The crepes are substantial but not overwhelming, since they are buckwheat. Both the savory and sweet crepes were enjoyable, along with a nice cup of coffee to start the day. The staff and owner were friendly and attentive, regularly checking on our experience. In fact, the owner chatted with us outside the restaurant upon our departure and took us on a quick tour of his new fondue restaurant next door. What a great introduction to New Haven. Prices are very reasonable.

Owned and run by a Frenchman, and it shows. Very well prepared, delicious food in a cafe style space. Really outstanding breakfast

An excellent range of pancakes (French style). The savoury crepes are made of buckwheat and the sweet of wheat flower.

I had one with smoked salmon inside and plenty of it. The edge of the pancake was a thin layer of fried egg. All very good. Again booking is recommended.

We tried five different crepes: LaFramagere, Ile St Louise, Choupette, Provencale, and Tintin. Ile St Louise (mozzarella, chicken, tomato, roasted pepper) was the best. The dessert Tintin was a close second. It was crowded. You could see the chef creating these amazing treats. Next time, I am going to try the vegetarian option with mushrooms.
