Heard about Metro Bis on NPR's The Food Schmooze. Mentioned it to a few people and started hearing people rave about how good it is. It is about 40 minutes from our home but we decided to take mom here for her 79th birthday Great choice...LOVED IT! We were seated in the bar area. Normally, I would object to this location but at Metro BIs we really didn't realize that we were in the bar area until we were half way through dinner. We peeked into the other rooms on the way out and found that all were lovely. Our waitress, Gina, was terrific! She was attentive, funny, and informative without being intrusive. All staff, with the only exception being the Inn's front desk, were similarly skilled. (We thought that it might be fun to come back and try the tasting menu and then stay overnight. The Inn staff seemed slightly irritated when we approached and asked what a room might cost. Didn't comport with the exceptional customer service we experienced throughout our meal)
We started with spring rolls and calamari. The calamari had a unique preparation that we all appreciated. For entrees we had braised short ribs over risotto, salmon over mashed potatoes (instead of wheat berry salad) and duck confit with spaetzle. All was delicious. We ended with key lime pie and bread pudding; Definitely worth the cost and looking forward to the next time.

I cannot say enough good things about our evening at Metro Bis this past Saturday. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary and had our party of 10 in The Eagle room...a wonderful ,intimate room with a square table that works well for 10. Decided to begin the evening in the Parlor with drinks and appetizers served there...a totally charming area with a large wood fireplace. The staff, from the moment we entered, was so attentive, so friendly and so accommodating. They even provided more appetizers than I had ordered...a truly lavish spread. Our dinners were all outstanding, culminating with an absolutely delicious carrot cake made in house. All in all, the restaurant made our 50th celebration a truly memorable event...we loved every minute of it and cannot thank them enough for treating us so warmly. A very special thanks goes out to David...can't thank you enough!! Pat R

I have everything from impromtue dinner on the porch, lunch with my parents and last year Thanksgiving diner. The food is alwayse exceptional and the staff and chef are very accommodating. I had dinner with a group and one was a vegetarian and the chef made up a special plate that was not one the menu for her. I have also been to lunch with a toddler and the staff was wonderful catering to a picky three year old. You could not ask for a better setting for any meal, the outside porch is lovely and the inside seating is very cozy. The boxed meals for the HSO Talcott Mountain concerts are and excellent deal.

The food is always good just do not expect the menu to change. The menu has been exactly the same for years and years. But the Duck, trout and other dishes are great.
