Heard about Metro Bis on NPR's The Food Schmooze. Mentioned it to a few people and started hearing people rave about how good it is. It is about 40 minutes from our home but we decided to take mom here for her 79th birthday Great choice...LOVED IT! We were seated in the bar area. Normally, I would object to this location but at Metro BIs we really didn't realize that we were in the bar area until we were half way through dinner. We peeked into the other rooms on the way out and found that all were lovely. Our waitress, Gina, was terrific! She was attentive, funny, and informative without being intrusive. All staff, with the only exception being the Inn's front desk, were similarly skilled. (We thought that it might be fun to come back and try the tasting menu and then stay overnight. The Inn staff seemed slightly irritated when we approached and asked what a room might cost. Didn't comport with the exceptional customer service we experienced throughout our meal)
We started with spring rolls and calamari. The calamari had a unique preparation that we all appreciated. For entrees we had braised short ribs over risotto, salmon over mashed potatoes (instead of wheat berry salad) and duck confit with spaetzle. All was delicious. We ended with key lime pie and bread pudding; Definitely worth the cost and looking forward to the next time.
