“large rock gym with good height”
Review of Delaware Rock Gym

Delaware Rock Gym
Ranked #3 of 10 things to do in Bear

Reviewed 3 December 2016

We try to climb when traveling for holidays or family.
The Bear rock gym is in an industrial park in a high bay building. Lots of surface area to climb on and there is a large central island to climb on as well as around the inside walls. Full range of difficulties with bouldering, top roping and lead climbing. Well lit.
Access to the gym is via car, don't think there is much public transport to the industrial park. Lots of parking is available.
Food options there are limited, but there are 2 convenience stores, a 7-11 and a Wawa just down the road.
Bathrooms are clean.
Some equipment available for sale including shoes.
A bit cool if you are belaying I wore a fleece hat, but seemingly comfy if you are climbing.
We've been here a few times, nice gym, convenient to where we stay for holidays with family.

Thank David B

I took my brothers 3 kids here for the first time about a month ago. We had so much fun doing our trial climbs...that we signed up the next week for our belay class. We have now been back 3 times in less than 6 weeks.... Not only was the staff super helpful but they offer discounts after you do your training and trial climbs to help get you started in this new sport. I would highly recommend this to anyone with children over the age of 4 years old...especially those in the 8 to 16 yr old range. A great time to strengthen their upper body while having a great time. Rock climbing not only improves your core and upper body strength but it teaches communication skills needed between climber and belay person on the ground. It also reinforces the idea of working towards overcoming obstacles and fears.... In a safe and fun family environment..... They also have great music on all the time to help motivate you on the climb up that 45 foot wall !!!!! A must for anyone in New Castle and Kent Counties. A quick trip as well from NJ or PA groups and families :-)

I have been here a few times with Cub Scout and Boy Scout outings. Great way to not worry about weather to get acquainted with rock climbing. There are plenty of instructors available to make sure it is a safe experience.

We thought it was a great experience! It was more intense than we thought as we had never rock climbed before. It was worth the money and a great fun work out!

We visit this place as a family often. We purchase the 10 visit pass for the value. The gym offers a variety f levels and often gives me a workout after 3 climbs ! Our 12 year old loves it ! They even host parties.

NOTE; it pays to become a ballayer * if you have more than one person climbing you should take course to get certified to ballay - good to know
