We stayed here for a conference. This hotel is in Bal Harbour - definitely not a hot-spot, exciting area. If you are looking for a night out on the town you need a car and about a 20 minute drive south. But about the hotel...as you enter the hotel you can tell it is old Miami. Some of the units are actual apartments that people own; so there is a mixture of hotel vacationers and owners. The furnishings are dated, but the place is clean, which is important. The room was pretty big; we had two walk-in closets and a small bathroom. We had a view of the street and parking lot, but this was expected. The sheets were clean, as well as the bathroom. Plenty of big, soft towels (I hate when hotels skimp on this). The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Especially the man who runs the coffee shop, off the pool. They treat you like you've been coming there for years. The pool area, I must say, is beautiful. It is HUGH, warm and its a salt water pool.
The dining leaves much to be desired. The one restaurant there was empty - I mean no one was eating there. We chose to sit a the bar. The food was OK, just basic bar type food, but again, very good service. If I were coming to North Miami again, I'd stay here.

This hotel located at Bal Houbour, NOT Miami Beach FL, which priceline told me Miami Beach FL.

The window is so dirty then what kind of ocean view you can get!!!

Coffee maker is so dirty which look like at least one year not being cleaned!!!

The outside of the building looks like an apartment building, total not like a hotel
I doubt that this is a 4 star hotel which was claimed by priceline.

Dear
Although we are the Greater Miami area, we are not Miami Beach. We are proudly located in Bal Harbour which is a quiet little village north of Miami Beach about 20 minutes and a shopping destination for the distinguished shopper from around the globe. Our guests appreciate the quiet ambiance of this village and the emerald waters with pristine white beaches. We appreciate your comments and hope you'll give us another visit one day soon.
Many thanks,

excellent location for Bal Harbour shops. Breakfast staff very friendly and helpful, especially Bobby, who worked at the Sheraton until it closed for re-development.
The pool area could do with a bit of attention, especially the pool bar, where there was no atmospheere at all. They would probably do well if somebody went around the guests on loungers offering bar service. The charge of $10.50 per person a day for a lounger is a bit much.

I have just returned from a week at the Sea View Bal Habour. The room was very clean and a decent size (we had two double beds, 2 single armchairs, table and large fridge). We didn't choose a room with a balcony as we have a young child, but i did view one and it was similar in size to our room.

The staff were friendly and polite at all times and always did their best to help us.

The pool was a good size and clean and varied from 3ft deep to 9ft deep (useful to know if you have kids) As people have said previously - loungers cost $10 a day per person or $5 for half a day. Cabanas are also available, although i am not sure of the cost.

The beach is just very close to the hotel and you do have the option to have a lounger on the beach, although i am not sure they could be moved too far down the beach.

Whilst the quality of food was good, i was disappointed by the limited variety of food, especially for vegetarians. The dinner menu was the same everyday. although i am not sure if this is due to it being low season. I would also recommend buying goods from the nearby shops as the gift shop is very overpriced i.e. $5 for water compared to $1.29 in the supermarket. We also bought strawberries and bananas for a fraction of the hotel price.

Overall i would recommend this hotel, but if you are planning to do activities like the seaqurium, zoo and jungle island, be prepared for long bus rides or organised tours.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been. The staff was very arrogant and unhelpful even after we informed them that my husband had suffered a medical emergency, tthey refused to call the doctor directly, gave me a wrong number and only when I personally approched the concierge I finally obtained a valid number. Not one person enquired about our wellbeing in 8 nights...When asked if we could scan an emergency document to the medical insurance people they refused steadfastly and instead charged $24 per fax (3 pages). After we needed to extend our stay, which was going to be paid by the insurance, the rates suddenly increased by 75%. A fraud it is not too strong a word. I asked to make a formal complaint about the appalling customer service and was reluctantly given the business card of the assistant general manager. There were also coakroaches scuttering around the swimming pool chairs. The staff consistently ignored our 5 years old needs including refusing to serve him his complimentary breakfast on our first morning, although they were quick to notice him when it was necessary to charge him $10 for the deck chair by the pool. This hotel is only after your credit card, regardless of the interor and exterior looking quite tired their prices are astronomical. The concierge once addressed me with "Do you want help or not?". Please, choose any other hotel, I will be happy to provide evidence of our stay and the service received. I promised I would do anything in my power to alert the public to their disgraceful service.

Dear MiamitripDurham,
We appreciate your feedback from your past visit with us at The Sea View Hotel.
First off, we apologize for not making your stay a comfortable and satisfying experience. We are a family friendly hotel and strive to be the best at it. We apologize again if the staff mistreated you or your family in any way. We consistently strive to bring the level of service up and are always raising the bar to reach new heights of excellence. Your comments have been shared with our management team and staff so we can learn from this experience to not repeat it again for you or any guest in the future. Reorienting our staff is the best way for us to meet the expectations of our guests, be it a single jet-setter flying in for a quick shopping excursion at the Bal Harbour Shops to the family that likes excursions to the beach and pool.
We invite you back to experience a newer Sea View Hotel as much has changed around here and continues to do so as well. From seeking more qualified staff to a renovation of the hotel, we are always looking for ways to better the hotel experience.
We hope to see you again.
Regards,
Raj Singh
