I just made it back from Destin. I never wanted to leave. The staff is very courteous. My only cons were the parking lot was flooded when we got there and it took a few days to clear and there is nothing within walking distance. Short walk to the beach. Gated entrance. Choose the east side and you will have spectacular views of the ocean. We stayed with friends this trip and it was definitely the best vacation we have had while in Destin. The rooms are very roomy. We plan to stay here again the next time we visit Destin. :)

Room Tip: East side has the best views.

We stayed with my new inlaws for our first time in Destin and we weren't disappointed in Unit 305 at the Islander! 2bd/2ba/ balcony overlooking the water. You can tell that the owners take care & pride in this wonderful vacation home. Updated amenities, wifi, flat screen tvs, and again THE VIEW! You can relax on the beautiful patio and watch the plentiful schools of dolphins play right in front of you! I highly recommend Unit 305 at the Islander. AND if you would like any information on Destin - don't by shy to contact Paris at the front desk- she knows everything and is full of helpful information!

Just concluded another great stay (our 5th or 6th) at the Islander & was expecting it to be packed on an Atlanta metro spring break weekend but the complex was only booked to about 40% capacity so there was plenty of room to move around. Out of our number of times we've come, we've had some glitches (a pool heater malfunction a few years back), annoyances (karaoke Monday used to be one) but this time was free of issues. We like unit 718 which is the top floor end unit away from the traffic of the elevators but can be a pain to move in/out from. The view of the sunsets & East Pass & partial beach view is our favorite. Adding a gym is a nice touch but having to have someone let you in/out of it is a minor annoyance. The staff always seemed to be very cordial & ready to assist.

Pros:
Location on Holiday Isle away from the hustle/bustle & traffic of US 98
Rooms have plenty of room for families
Nice balconies with views of Gulf and/or sunset
Furnishings with kitchen & living room give you everything you need away from home
Nice flat walking/running path that can go up to 4+ miles as a loop right outside the front gate
Great BBQ gazebo area for grilling
Two pools (one heated/one not) & two hot tubs

Cons:
Nothing within short walking distance for restaurants, US 98 is 1.25 miles away.
Beach is not right on property but close enough to access with little trouble
Beach chair land rush first thing in the morning to get a decent spot

We really enjoy the Islander & I'm sure will be back again.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 01-09 are on the gulf side, 10-18 on the sunset/inlet view side Rooms ending in 08/09/10/11 are closest to the elevators if walking is an issue Check the room you're booking, the rates have changed for rooms based on their "gold/silver/bronze" pricing system. For example 717 costs less than 718 with the identical view but only slightly less recently updated accommodations.

Thanks for your kind comments, I am glad you had a nice peaceful visit, I think a lot of spring breakers failed to come this year due to the inclement weather. We have to keep the GYM closed otherwise too many kids get in there to abuse the equipment, and we did purchase top of the line equipment for our guests, so we feel that it is prudent for guests to sign out a key. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

A beautiful quiet resort tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the other larger hotels. A great launching pad for miles of walking. My 2nd Visit to see my dad as he overwinters for 4 months. Conveniently located to shopping, Amazing Staff, so very helpful, well equipped. BBQ'ing almost every night overlooking the beach...

Room Tip: All Rooms Face the Gulf

We first stayed at the Islander 25 years ago with young children, then again in January 2014 for a 2nd home house hunting visit. Our first reaction upon getting out of our car 25 years later was "wow this place still looks great" and it was. Well maintained externally, clean, well appointed and well stocked (linens) internally, and excellent service by staff. Our appraisal also comes after we looked at nearly 30 other condos to buy while on our trip but every day we came back after house hunting, we kept thinking the Islander Condo was the best one we saw for the money, whether for a purchase or rental. We stayed in 305. Definitely the one to rent if you go down there. Modern, great view, clean etc.

Room Tip: Rooms 01-09, i think have the more direct beach view and the 3rd floor is the perfect height for view and easy access (stairs or elevators) but the rooms on the other side have a nice view as well, less direct beach but more going on as you can see interesting islands in the distance and boats leaving the harbor into the Gulf. Neither view was bad, just different
