Had a great long weekend here. The front desk staff was super friendly and check-in was a breeze.

The unit we stayed in (#612) was in the western half of the building and had a wonderful view of the bay and pool. It had been recently updated with nice DWR style furniture, plank flooring and a modern color scheme.

The amenities were great with a couple pools, beach chairs/umbrellas, and shopping carts to carry your belongings

We stayed in condo #516. The condo was neat and clean & it has a unique deco that is really neat. The condo is very spacious and enjoyable. There's not much of a view from the balcony as another condo stands between the west wing and the beach. The Islander building and grounds are very well maintained and manicured. Each day we saw workers out cleaning and maintaining. There is a laundry room on the second floor that was nice. There are two small pools and fortunately during our stay the condo was about 40% occupied, so getting to the pool wasn't a proble. As I said, The Islander sets behind another condo so it's not right on the beach. There is a walkway that takes you to a private section of the beach. The section of beach is small, as it shares with two condos closely adjacent. If the condo had been full, getting a beach spot would have been challenging. We rented through Hotels, and if you don't rent directly through The Islander the beach chairs and umbrellas are not included. They're an additional $36 a day. The Islander is a gated condo with coded access. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Check in and out was a breeze. Enjoyed our stay in 516.

Room Tip: The west wing has a condo obstructing the beach view, east wing not so much.

Stayed in a condo with a couple other ladies for 4 glorious days. It was clean, comfortable beds, and just a short walk across the resort to the private beach. Will definitely stay here again! Owner was great to work with, easy check in, well worth the money.

Roaches and 3 spiders!! TV's not working, bathroom light not working, freezer making loud noises and a snake on the patio! Unit was not ready on time, closet floors full of sand, no toilet paper and had a bad odor. Didn't want to complain about so much, so I sprayed the room and lit a candle, bought some toilet paper and a bag of ice. Called about TV's (did not get fixed), the bugs (they sent someone to spray) and the snake (no one came). 2 days after leaving they charged me $500 for a smoking smell - though we had no smoking in the room. Must be the same odor that I did not complain about - and now THEY are charging ME?? After staying here for 18 years and recommending it to so many, NEVER AGAIN!

When you cannot change a circumstance, that is, smoking in the unit, and the resultant answer doesn't agree with the way the guest sees it you have a problem . The fact is that the unit the complainant occupied, reeked of smoke and this is undeniable after reports from maintenance, and housekeeping and indeed my own nose. This is the 3rd guest we have charged over the past 5 years ,as the vast majority of our guests respect our rules especially after agreeing to do so by signing our rental agreement, so, obviously it was bad and the unit was unavailable to rent for a couple of days while the strong smell dissipated after cleaning the furniture and unit .

Re the maintenance complaints on investigation I found that 1 light bulb was replaced, and the volume on the master bedroom TV would only work if it was reset every time it was turned on. When my maintenance manager offered a replacement TV he was told not to bother as they would leave it on all the time as they were always watching it. The other TV's were working fine.So we replaced the problem TV after the guests departure. The complaint about the noisy refrigerator was in a different unit and maintenance found nothing wrong with it.

The guest did report a bug issue and Bryans pest control sprayed the unit within 2 hours of the call. Great service as usual. It is more likely that bugs appear in the unit, when the sliding glass door is left open at night to allow the guest to go on the balcony to smoke. Todd the maintenance manager hustled to the unit about the reported snake and sadly he didn't find one.
All our units are non smoking and all this discussion has occurred because our rules were broken leaving the unit un-rentable.

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the Islander in unit 305. Once with girlfriends, once with hubby, and once with the whole family. The owners have updated and remodeled the condo. This unit embodies the essence of the beach. It overlooks the ocean and the pool, and is a short walk to the beach. The beds were extremely comfortable! The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stays. It is conveniently located off of the main highway. I would recommend this unit to anyone!

Room Tip: Good views, comfortable beds and very clean.
