We stopped here to have lunch. It took forever for our waitress to acknowledge us and after viewing her interactions with the only two other parties we decided just to have a dessert treat. There were two choices (strawberry shortcake and key lime pie). We wanted one of each but we're told with a huff that they only have the pie and we had better order fast because it was the last two pieces. That was fine except by then we were the only party in the restaurant! We did order pie and a drink and the waited again an unreasonable time to be served. Maybe we will try the restaurant again?
The building is historic and I appreciate that, but there are cobwebs and dust in the ladies restroom. Overall it needs a good cleaning.

Thank Lisa K

Four of us road down to the R&G club yesterday. The place itself was pretty much as expected - an old style Florida R&G club that is kept clean and has great historical interest.

The food however was very expensive and blah... $4 soft drinks, $15 hamburgers, $21 for a lunch "seafood" platter (which was served with a few shrimp, scallops, bad grouper, frogs legs that were unappealing, undercooked an poorly presented). One in our party had the steak sandwich, which was the best looking of the meals. It was rated decent by my friend who had ordered that meal.

Not impressed and will NOT go back.

By the way - this is a cash only establishment. Bring plenty if you are planning to eat there.

Was in EC once again a couple of weeks back looking for a lunch place and as many will know choice is very limited. Always fancied trying the R and G but somewhat put off by the dark interior.
However as I said there is little choice to be had so we decided to go in despite reading some bad reviews about service and attitude to folks just wanting to look round.
Indeed the entrance is not that impressive but once inside the highly polished floors and all the memorabilia is quite something.
Still as I said we were hungry so joined a few other diners in the restaurant area and were soon welcomed by a very friendly waitress who took our order of a fish platter (to share) and some cold drinks to go with it. Frog's legs were also on this dish and being somewhat sqeamish we said could we have something else instead to which the answer was not a problem. Actually we got extra shrimp but the chef included the F L anyway which I tried and found rather fishy in taste though i doubt would have again.
We finished off, again sharing, with a slice of Key Lime pie and have to say that this was the best I have ever tasted so if the chef (or whoever made it) gets to read this review - our compliments.

We thought we had to go here because of the history in this place. The folks were rude and insisted we had to dine here in order to look around. The food was bad, the service even worse. The owners would do better to sell tours and skip the bad food. We were told by local people not to come here. Wish we'd listened.
