Since we fell in love with Amelia over the weekend, we decided to check out the museum before heading home. What a treat! I liked the fact that there were places to sit and rest (I have a leg issue) in between. This allowed us to spend more time looking before getting tired out, and besides, it is a small museum anyway. But packed with great historical info! I want to come back for one of the tours next time!

We took the 11:00 AM docent tour of the museum. We were told about the eight flags that have flown over Amelia Island. Fascinating history.

LOVED this museum; it is small; you can see it all in an hour... the ladies there were very nice... thanks to Thea who arranged a special Ghost Tour for us with Becky - wow did she know her history; told us some great stories about Amelia Island. loved it!

We were directed to the museum by the visitor center employee and told the next tour with docent that was very familiar with the history of the island was beginning soon and would last an hour. The guided tour ended up lasting almost 2 hours but was very informative. We learned a lot that we would never had known and although went longer than expected, we enjoyed this. I would not recommend this guided tour for children and maybe not even teenagers unless they are history buffs. This is due to it being mostly lecture. We walked through the museum quickly afterwards because we were starving by the end.
