A visit to the Amelia Island Museum will give you a lively, interactive, and exciting understanding of why this is called the "Isle of 8 Flags." From the indigenous Timucuans to the powerful Spanish, from Frenchman Ribault's tenure to the Kingsley Plantation, which was managed by a former female slave, you will find original documents, dioramas, and interpretive explanations which lead you through an
exciting history peppered by pirates, intrigue, and costumes for kids! A tour with a docent will enhance your experience ten fold. And, if you are annoyed with a family member, this is an old jail, so there is a cell in which you might consider housing them

The history of Amelia Island is very interesting, and the various "flags" or nations that ruled the area. We spent about three hours and learned a lot of history of the area. A lot of volunteers are involved to make this museum a success. Well worth spending the time.

The Amelia island Museum of history there’s a small but well put together history of the island from the context of the seven flags that have flown over Amelia Island. It is a near reeded tour done by A knowledgeable docent who provides lots of small detail to make the tour more interesting. We learned a lot and enjoyed our visit.

Our guide and historian that guided us through the museum was amazing. She certainly knew her Florida History. Wonderful experience.

Easy going Museum that spans the history of the area under 8 different flags. Loved having our map stamped at each room in the museum. Good gift shop. We were too early for tour but bet it is worth it.
