I have lived in Fort Myers for 48 years and this is by far the best attraction to come our way. I have spent MANY visits to the Butterfly estates and have released butterflies, eaten ice cream in the ice cream shop, had lunch in the cafe with is fantastic and did alot of photography on numerous different types of butterflies. I will continue to visit over and over and if you come to the Ft. Myers area, you don't want to miss out on this. I think the $15.00 admission price is well worth the visit there.

Read the reviews about it being small and overpriced, but decided to give it a try anyway. SO GLAD WE DID! We gave my 7 year old son a digital camera and he has the best time finding and taking pictures of the caterpillars and butterflies. There isn't a whole lot to the place, just a large green house full of beautiful plants and the butterflies, but I didn't think the cost was too outlandish. Compared to going to the movies, mini-golf, go-carts, etc. I felt that this was close to the same cost, but a more unique and educational experience. The employees were very friendly, we got a small snack at their ice cream shop and overall everything was neat and clean. I recommend it for families with young kids who aren't too worried about the price.

We attended the Butterfly Festival... You are coerced into paying $15 per adult to walk through about 50 feet of a hot house, to be dumped out into a parking lot. There was about 5 different varieties of butterflies... there were no exhibits, demonstrations, people to encourage understanding of the exhibit, nothing, no sign-age, and definitely nothing to encourage another visit in anyone's lifetime.

I visited this pavillion with my four year old son who is well aquainted with natural experiences. This is not a place to come to be entertained and expecting hundreds of exotic butterflies to land upon you. This is an educational native SW FL home raised and grown butterfly pavillion. It is in downtown Ft. Myers known as the "river district". The staff are very kind & hospitable. They are eager to shae their knowledge and passion. A year round family pass is a good deal.
The entry price seems high but it supports a much needed native nature experience for the local area and visitors. Your entry ticket is good for all day! My son and I ate lunch at their local restaurant first and returned to experience the release of 50 1-2 day old native butterflies which he was able to participate in with a small group of about 6-8 visitors that day.
We had ordered a whole wheat white pizza at their local restaurant and it was very tasty. I have been to a butterfly pavillion that is bigger and in a major metropolitan area and it full of hundreds of exotic butterflies, with other indoor areas for visitors to explore. However, a set up like that is different because they are including exotic butterflies species.
Butterfly estates is emphasizing native SW Fl butterflies, flora and fauna and beautifying the downtown area.

We went there when it was raining heavily but it was definitely overpriced for such a small place! The gift shop and restaurant were nice but the actually butterfly farm was too much for $15! Needs to be a little cheaper!
