Extremely pleasant dining experience with good food, but our server, Emory, was exemplary! His advice and suggestions were appreciated and spot on. We had a grit cake for an appetizer and the chateaubriand as a main course and I have to admit, it was among the best I’ve had locally. It was sliced and presented table side and again, Emory delivered. Our drinks were never allowed to get under half full before they were promptly filled. Desert was the Bananas Foster, prepared by hand table side and you guessed it, Emory again was fantastic. As much as we enjoyed the food the atmosphere and service made the evening a true 5-Star experience worth every penny spent. We will definitely be going back.

A Wednesday night treat or should I say feast, the Veranda never disappoints.A friend and I had the pleasure of being waited on by two gentleman, one in training.Meals at the Veranda are all inclusive, no a la carte for every vegetable and starch. We began with wine, a recommendation from our server, Butternut Chardonnay from Napa Valley, delicious. Cornbread muffins, bread with butter and red pepper jelly begin the meal. House salad is the first course, a wonderful combination of greens, tomatoes, heart of palm, served with homemade dressing, we both had blue cheese.I had the red grouper served on a bed of crab hash. My friend enjoyed the prime rib with mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots. We finished off the meal with coffee and Bailey's Irish Cream cheese cake.It was wonderful to be able to take our time and not feel rushed. Excellent food and service.

My wife and I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Great place to have a drink and listen to the piano. Great food at affordable prices. Great rooms to have a private party. Will always be on my list when I go downtown.

The Veranda is fine dining at it's best! Relatively small and intimate, the food was out of this world and the service was truly excellent. The menu is mostly limited to seafood and steaks but everything is done to perfection. My wife had the seared scallops and I had the seafood sampler with Grouper, shrimp and scallops - both were delicious. Our waiter, Keith, was professional - attentive, without hovering! The Veranda has a beautiful seating area in the atrium. They have a small parking lot but valet parking is available.

I wrote this review about a year ago and was getting ready to write another one and thought, nope, this one just sums it up all again just fine. We didn't have the hogfish this time, but all else, well, just perfect........

There's a new chef in town and he's made his mark. We have been going to this very fine establishment for years and have always had wonderful service, excellent food and always leave wondering why we don't visit more often.

We live in Punta Gorda just 30 minutes away but feel like this is one of our home town places. It's the warmth of the hostesses, the always special bartenders, the exceptional service by professional servers and all topped off by 2nd to none dining. It's always like going home.

Always arriving early as we love the little eclectic bar and the buzz and charm of the environment when you walk in. A couple of martinis with friends to slow down and catch up is the perfect way to start the evening. When escorted from the bar at reservation time, all the staff are welcoming as you head back through this beautiful Victorian home to your table. Food is floating by, conversations are lively and comfortable as if you are indeed at the family home with lots of guests over for the evening.

You don't have to be dressed up but this place is elegant with tuxedoed wait staff and all the support staff looking like they came to ensure you have a wonderful experience. It's old school that way and we love it. Dress the same. There's plenty of beach bum flip flop places that we love too, but here, treat them with the same respect they are showing you.

Last night friends from Canada joined us before their all too soon departure back to Maple leaf country. A bottle of Chardonnay was selected from a nice wine menu. This wine menu is the not ridiculous 10 or 20 pages. Enough to ensure you can find a nice wine from $35 to $200. You won't be disapponted.

Table side prepared Cesar salads for all paired perfectly with the Chard. Service is informative but never intrusive. Water is poured, wine topped off, dishes disappear without rushing or that all too often clanging together of empty plates that is sometimes just rudely loud in most other restaurants.

So why "Happy with the Hog"? Our waiter told us about one of the Chef's special - hogfish over risotto. If you are not familiar with this fine fin, you aren't hanging out in the Keys enough. It's standard fare amongst us coral crawlers although it's almost always fried. Well once we heard hogfish, the menus were set aside and salivary glands were in gear. The perfectly timed entree delivery was phenomenal. Thanks Chef Danny Frier!

Another perfect evening at a wonderful gem in our own backyard. See you soon.
