The food is incredibly delicious and the service is wonderful. After living in Japan, I was eager to find a Japanese restaurant whose food tasted like the real thing. Tomo fits the bill.

First time visit and wasn't disappointed. Arrived just after they opened for dinner and was seated promptly. Ordered several of their happy hour sushi, appetizers and side dishes. For our entrée we had the hibachi duck and squid dinner and a couple of their dinner bowl. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back.

The quick review: this place has pretty good food and potential but has a few small and big hurdles to overcome to be at 4 stars or 5 stars.

Before I get to food and service I would like to address the curb appeal, ambiance and marketing. The strip center needs a refresh and better lighting. Dark and shady looking makes you look over your shoulder. The restaurant could do something with their front and windows. Perhaps several large planters or window boxes with colorful plants. An easel by the road and out front highlighting happy hour specials? This could be something your landlord doesnt allow... if so, maybe you and the other restaurants could speak with the landlord and see what h/she is willing to support. The interior is way too dark and dingy and would benefit by a lighter paint on the dark brown walls and better lighting... it's not the cozy dark it's the hiding how clean or dirty it is. Oh, and please fix those ceiling tiles. These are cheap and very easy to cut to fit. White paper taped makes it seem like you don't care even though you probably do. All vents need cleaning, seeing filthy vents over ones table w dust hanging makes me wonder how clean back of house is. There are quite a few simple changes that would make your space look amazing. Now, your server was good, friendly and attentive but she had to go check with someone several times to answer our questions... but still she was pleasant. The menu was extensive, so extensive it made me wonder how fresh your food was due to a somewhat empty restaurant and a very large menu as the math doesn't work. The hibachi was not open due to not having a sushi chef. The food was very tasty, we both ordered off of the authentic Japanese food page. The tempura udon had an unidentifiable veggie? Tempura that could not be chewed. My husband tried to take a bite and he couldn't break it apart either because the inside was like a soft synthetic. The rest of the tempera was very good and he enjoyed his dish. Good luck, having good food is half the battle...remember leveraging social media can help with marketing your specials and brand.

We have been to Tomo several times and have had a wonderful experience with great food and good service. We went on a Wednesday night at 745 pm. Not crowded and ordered sushi which I enjoyed previously. Also ordered hot tea. Instead of a pot of tea the two of us got one cup of tea that was tepid at best. That we asked waitress to return. That perhaps affected our order because after waiting 45 minutes longer the waitress finally approached our table with no sushi. (Apparently it was still being cooked ). We told we were leaving since it had now been an hour waiting. As I expected the owners or member of management did not approach us. Therefore the only way to "vent" about an evening out gone bad is here. Had to settle for Chik fila. Fortunately that only cost $13 versus the $70 worth of sushi we had ordered that never appeared. Another place to write off since there are many other sushi places that can be actually prepare a sushi meal in less than an hour when there are no other customers. If this is the new norm for them there life expectancy is short indeed.

Fresh sushi with a great selection of specialty dishes. You can go for the traditional hibachi table but why would you? The smoked yellowtail is a must and a great presentation with the glass cover removed to reveal the "extra" smoke. Baby octopus? Yes please! Service was prompt and not obtrusive.
