This was our first visit to Roy's and I must say... We were impressed. One of our hobbies is checking out local Happy Hours. If we find the drinks, food and service amazing then we return for dinner. When we walked up we thought perhaps the restaurant hadn't actually opened for the evening as staff was arriving at the same time. The receptionist encouraged us to come into the bar for Aloha Hour. The ambiance was soft and romantic in the restaurant as well as in the bar area. There were 4 other patrons in the bar at the time. After about an hour/5ish the bar started getting packed. We heart the martinis, mac and cheese w white truffle oil, ebi roll, lobster pot sticker, and ribs... All a mere $7 each. They also offer a pre fixe dinner option and everything else looked amazing. Dear Roy.... You made the list of our Top 5 Happy Hours in Jax and the Beaches! Oh, and what amazing service! Cheers to the chef/kitchen, servers and bartenders... And to the management for running a well maintained and clean place!

This one was good. I really didn't know what to think about Roy's. I have heard from some good friends that it is too hoity toity and expensive. Then I have seen here that it is really some good food too. Now we will see. We came after a bad day at the hospital. I needed a pick me up and Roy's sure did that. We were seated quickly and Lindsay was our server for the night. She did a bang up job to making sure we needed for nothing. We decide to go with the per fixed meal. It ended up being a really good choice to. You have 2 choices with apps, entrees, and dessert. Perfect two of us we will take both sides please. We started with our apps of Shirk Miso soup was really good with pork n shrimp dumplings. The broth was quite tasty and had a good depth of flavors. I had the Hamachi Tataki was also pretty tasty. The fish was a little on the fishy side but mixed with the accompanying grapefruit it all just worked together. The next course of Karage chicken we both felt was the down side of the meal. The chicken was over and hard with all the breading. But, then the Sukiyaki bowl was really close to the star of the night. A bowl of really good broth with (my fav) pork belly and some short rib (2nd fav in the world) mixed with some tiger shrimp. Then you throw in some vegis of bok choy, mushrooms and some noodles. This one was a bowl slap packed full of yummy. We ended the night on with a couple of desserts that were hurt you good. Mine was the Yuzu Curd or in laymen's terms: Coconut dacquoise, mint granite a foam. The only thing you need to know about this dish is how to order it. It was so good and had some flavors that just made it all melt in your mouth. But, the star of the night had to be the chocolate soufflé. This was a dish that made you want to stand on your chair and fight anybody that got within feet of you. I thought or really was hoping that the wife was full and didn't want any. This is mine you get back. I love you wife but leave the table now. Everything from the flourless cake to the burning hot chocolate ganache that flowed out as you cut into it. Heavenly and there is no more that needs to be said. As I stated to Lindsay our server after she came back and asked if it was any good. Don't take my plate this is a plate worth licking. Being a gentleman I gave her the plate and almost shed a tear as it left. Roy's was good and it has been put onto our soon to return list for sure.

We don't usually go to Roys because its on the pricey side for us, but they'd sent us a big coupon and thought we 'd use it. After making a reservation and requesting a booth, we were quickly seated in one. The drink order wasn't right, and our server personally made them himself to make it right. We were impressed! Good service but not rushed. Delicious dinner.....this restaurant is on the noisy side so not great for hearing impaired!

Relaxed dining and above average food in a pretty dining room with friendly staff. A bit expensive but still less then NYC prices.
