We stayed for 2 nights and this was nothing like what the pictures showed! We had to ask to switch rooms because there was mold on the ceiling of room 1! It took over 10 minutes to be able to get barely warm water in our shower. We were told that there would be free breakfast...but both mornings there was no breakfast-we have up waiting after 8am and went elsewhere to eat. The place had broken windows in the bar/restaurant and some of the beer from the taps in the bar had gone sour. We were charged an additional "resort fee" but we had ZERO amenities...not even breakfast or hot showers. The only positives I can say is that the bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean.

Room Tip: Don't Stay Here!

Just returned home after spending 3 nights.at this motel. It is up and running again after Hurricane Irma. Was skeptical about staying at Smuggler's Cove after reading many negative reviews and comments. Like other folks, I agree the place is outdated. But, considering we we're in the Keys for a very casual get away, this place was awesome. Room was VERY basic, BUT clean! The staff, notably Pedro and James we're terrific, and the food cooked up by CHEF CHRIS was excellent, but pricey. Free rum punch each night and complimentary eggs with cheese, sausage and French toast were cooked to order in the morning. SOOOO much fun, but don't expect luxury! Excellent stay. Will definitely return!

check in and check out, dirty place, no hot water, the door will not lock, lampshade dirty, dusty all over, holes under the sink, shower handle broken.
Me and my husband drove 5 1/2 from orlando for a wedding we find a inhabitable room.We as for other but they said aren’t more available. The front desk clerk Chris was very unfriendly and told my husband he knew was a problem with us when we asked for extra toiletries at the check in which we always do in every single hotel we visit. Another couple was complaining also for the same reasons. We ending leaving and fortunately we found a beautiful place.
The excuse was the hurricane and we understand the outside but inside the room was so disgusting.
They need to a least clean. All the place smelled funny inside the room. They said have a kitchenette look my pictures and you tell me what do you think.

Had a great week here ! Not fancy or froo- froo . Very Comfy rooms , reasonably priced and great staff. Very accommodating. Locals type bar on premises on a small marina. Good food too. We were treated like friends immediately. Managers, bartenders/ waitresses, maids ...everyone treated us great. It is right on Hwy 1 ...easy access to go anywhere in the Keys. Close to lots of local attractions and restaurants. We Definitely will stay here when we come back to the Keys.

We stayed here on our way to Marathon during Lobster Season this year as it was one of the only marinas left with a vacancy. It was incredibly overpriced and absolutely dirty and gross. Not just the place itself but many of the people there too! The slip we were assigned had no way for us to get off our boat! We had to climb on the boat next to ours to get onto the dock. The neighbor stole our power source as theirs was broken! The place itself was beyond dirty - dog feces on the dock walkway and drive behind. Someone threw up all over the dock where you had to walk and no one bothered to clean it up. Boaters were passed out int he back of their boats and in the hallway at the hotel. Our room was no better - the AC barely worked and the fridge leaked all over the floor. The bathroom was gross! We chalked it up as an adventure but be aware this place is absolutely terrible. Management was non responsive when we tried to talk with them and basically gave no crap what-so-ever!!!! The only nice thing was that dolphins followed us into the canal on our way there.
