The positives: Turtle Crawl is a wonderful complex with incredible views of the Gulf, very nice heated pool and attentive and capable staff. We've rented here numerous times - this complex is our first choice. The unit we were given was almost the only one available because of our last minute trip; based on reviews it would not have been our choice.

The negatives: unit 201 is in desperate need of renovation and attention. As we checked in, we were told that the microwave was broken and they had to get approval from the owner to replace it. After two days, the staff had not received a return call from the owner. A temporary unit came on the third day. The apliances are typical of the cheapest available from Walmart. There is only one larger fry pan and it's warped so bad that it almost unuseable. No spatter screen nor any lids! Same with the knives and tools; dull, cheap and minimal.

The tile floor and grout is dirty. The decor was cheap a la Hobby Lobby 30 years ago. As my photos show, Miss Becky's second grade class could have done by better job of painting in the lines. The smoke detector has been painted which is a safety violation in my state. The cabinet in the bathroom hits the light when you open it. That cabinet is located right under the squished bug on the wall. If you like a dark bedroom, you're outta luck. Some of the cheap shades are missing. There are missing shades in the living room, as well. If you are a deep sleeper, you're fine; the noise from the elevator won't bother you.

Other comments: The vents are corroded and gross. The patio chairs are old and corroded but comfortable and usable. There are no amenities.

Maybe we are too critical, but there are units at Turtle Crawl that are much more desirable. Unit 201 needs lots of love and attention.

Overall the Turtle Crawl Inn property is well maintained, with well kept landscaping and common areas. The pool is on the smaller side (recommended 9 people max) and seemed overly chlorinated, but is conveniently located and generally clean. The complex has two nice, new grills located under a pavilion area near the beach, which was excellent for large group dining. The beach access is amazing, with close proximity to all the condos/villas and very quiet. Beach umbrellas were available in most units, with beach chairs always accessible directly on the beach. Beach towels are provided, but were seldom available due to not being returned by guests for regular washing. Our stay overlapped Easter weekend and the staff conducted a very nice egg hunt with prizes for the kids, which was very nice!

We stayed in villa 81 for 7 nights. On a scale of 1-10 I would give his property a 4, primarily for the overall lack of upkeep and uncleanliness. The villa is private and tucked in the back corner of the property, with easy access to the pool/beach. In general it is very spacious, with a large dining table for gathering and nice kitchen/living room space. They've since updated he cabinets and backsplash from the pictures. The 1.5 bath was a nice plus. All of that said, the property is in desperate need of a deep cleaning and better upkeep. Some of the dirt (e.g. Black grout on tile floors, stained chairs) is expected with a beach property, but the baseboards were covered in filth and our feet were constantly black from the floor. Upon checkin I scrubbed the floors, baseboards, walls, furniture for the entire property to feel more comfortable with small children being there. There was a vacuum available which was nice. The bathroom had a moldy shower curtain with no liner, rusted curtain rod, and chipping tile. The tub would not drain and ultimately had a leak in the kitchen, as evident in the photo and the water damage along the cabinets. The water leakage under the sink and stove has caused rot and major gnats. The dishwasher in the kitchen was a nice plus. The major issue was the bedroom and filth on the bedding. The master mattress had a mattress bag (without mattress pad cover) that was covered in blood and bodily fluid, with sheets that were covered in hair. It obviously had not been washed for quite some time. We stripped and washed all of the bedding immediately, due to the office being closed for the Easter holiday. We did report the issues to the office to which they sent a 'cleaning lady' and a plumber was supposed to come, but unable to access the room while we were away.

All that to say, we enjoyed our time on a beautiful beach with friends, but you should certainly be aware that each property is 'unique' and should be prepared for the quality.

We stayed at this property on the first floor for a couple of nights until our other location was available. We stayed in a one bedroom, one bath unit. It was very clean and nicely decorated. My only issue was the bright light that was on all night outside the bedroom. Blackout blinds may be in order. In the end, I will definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone looking or a clean quiet location.

Stayed in unit 81 a few weeks back. We needed a 2 bedroom unit and it worked nicely. Felt the price was on the high side but it was for a special event.
The beach are was great and it is an awesome place for a beach wedding.
Showers need a little updating but overall it was a good time.

We are so pleased that you had a wonderful time and are always pleased to hear your comments, they help us ensure we meet our guests expectations. As a matter of fact the entire bathroom will be going through a remodel next month. We hope you can stay again with our updates.

Stayed sight unseen due to a destination wedding.

The staff was great and grounds (pool, beach area, barbecue area) were very well kept. In fact pool inspector came and inspected when we were in the pool. Passed with flying colors.

The unit we stayed in 64 should not be rented. A big water stain in the bathroom (mold possible), broken headboard which banged every time you moved, slats missing on the patio slider so you could look in at night, broken knobs on the dresser and a toliet that ran day and night.

Why did we stay there? It was clean and we had paid $1,000 and would lose our money and had no where to go.

Very disappointed in the Management Company. They must not inspect the units before they rent them.

Find another place to stay.

Hi So sorry you did not like your room, during your stay we could have moved you to another unit if this was unsatisfactory. Please remember the office girls are there to help.
Owners are trying their best to fix all issues and will be handled rate away.
Thank you and a safe and happy trip wherever you go.
