We were intrigued with Sandpiper. An older property, it exudes charm and evokes a step back in time. Just a short walk past the sea oats for beach access. Each of the 10 rooms has its own patio area, umbrella and lounge chair. 2 rooms have Gulf view. Although an older motel, it has Wi-FI, flat screen TV’s and other retrofitted creature comforts. Rooms are clean and charming. There are a lot of repeat visitors (we casually met some) and the early months of next year are already booked in advance.

We are enamored with Sandpaper and are already considering booking next year. Be advised this is not a resort nor is it trendy. Yet, it’s ambiance compels. One of its owners, Chris, was seated in one of their Adirondack beach chairs watching the sunset, wine glass in hand, dialoging with Sandpiper renters. Landscaping is very nice and it has a semi secluded charm.

Thank you for your kind words, Harold and I have worked diligently in the last 13 years to preserve the “Old Florida Charm” while bringing modern amenities. I absolutely love our sunsets on my backyard, the best beach in North America. We have tons of repeat guests from all over the globe, when you visit you are not a reservation number, but a friend, unless you want to enjoy our property in private.
Sunny Regards,
Life is always better at the Beach especially with a glass of wine!

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out we had an awesome experience. This place is a hidden gem. We were there to celebrate my birthday and just wanted to get away and relax. From the fully stocked kitchen, where breakfast was cooked to the outdoor grills where we grilled our dinner, I cannot say enough positive things about the Inn. Each room had a cozy patio area with chairs and a table with an umbrella also a lounge chair. Down at the beach were chairs, umbrellas and the view was amazing. The owners were so helpful and made us feel at home. We quickly found out that many of the guests return year after year. I can see why, count us in to add to that list. Thank you for a wonderful staycation.

This hotel can hardly been seen from the road and comprises of 10 individual ground floor self units.

With a bed, kitchen, dining area and all utensils within each unit, you step out of your door and onto the sand.

There is a outside grill and cook out area and outside tables and chairs if you want to take it easy close to your room.

It really is very very quaint and the same people come back here year after year.

You can take your dog too.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

When I'm at the beach I like it easy. I do not want to deal with a huge resort and the hassles that come along with a resort. It is so nice to walk out your door and put your feet in the sand. No elevators.to deal with. The Sandpiper Inn is just this. You do not have to get completely dressed to go to the pool, you may make your own drink to take to the pool/beach and all units have a kitchenette so you are free to make any meals you choose. It is old Florida charm at its best. I'm thrilled that a few of these still exist and wish there were more.

There are only a handful of units here. Now mind you, when I say old Fla. charm, understand that these rooms are not modern, upscale units. They are outdated, casual, no frills well maintained rooms. At first you might be taken back as you step back in time. The place grows on you and you settle in as you realize how relaxing and comfortable this place is. I love it and appreciate it for what this place is and stands for. There is a pool and there are lounge chairs for use. There is no charge for the chairs nor is there a resort fee!!!

The owners take pride in the Sandpiper and they are so sweet. Gotta love it.

Thank you for your stay at our awesome “Old Florida” property on one of the best beaches in North America!
You are correct we are one of the few remaining properties directly on the Gulf that is not a high rise, and has that “Perfect Florida Charm”, enabling global guests to find affordable lodging on Longboat Key.

Harold and I have worked extremely hard to maintain that charm while updating the rooms with many modern conveniences, especially the high end, extremely quiet Mitsubishi mini-split air conditioners. All the rooms have been completely updated with beachy paint colors, new appliances, tile, cabinets, furniture and mattresses.
Outside we have replaced all of the patio chairs, umbrellas and installed both turtle and people friendly lighting & landscaping.
We are glad you “recultantly” enjoyed your stay and you will visit us again, as you know “Life is always better at the BEACH!

My Husband and I have Been coming To the Sandpiper at least twice a year for the last eight years, we love The Old Florida Style Motel that Is magnificently landscaped, someone referred to it as a Mom and Pop Place, I would say that is a compliment, we need more of those kind of places!!! The Owners have Been Working Every year Making Improvements, not that they really needed to. They Go above and beyond to assure a great stay!! The Rooms are Clean and comfortable with all appliances and amenities we could want...Looking forward to next Time as Always... Kathy and John
