Return visit. Love the solitude of the beach. The beds are the most comfortable ever. Quiet, clean, accommodating and soooo relaxing. Everything you could possibly need is provided. A full kitchen, beach chairs and umbrellas, beach towels, pool noodles, grills, you name it. There is even a pan to wash your seashells. Clean and updated. We’ll be back!

Hubs and I stayed for 2 nights, mid-week, July 2018. Our first visit. Exceptionally clean, welcoming owners/staff and an easy place to be. So few small, quirky places left on LBK and so glad we found this one. Walk to Centre Shops & Harry's Continental Kitchen (Yum)! makes it super easy to park the car until check out.

Room tip: Rooms 9 & 10 face the beach.......

Loved The Sandpiper Inn. Quiet unassuming, immaculate and absolutely perfect for a relaxing vacation. The innkeeper, Ben, is personable and helpful. The accommodations include everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked and beach towels are available. The beach front has lounge chairs and umbrellas. This is a wonderful Inn.

My wife and I are Floridians and have stayed here twice. We prefer Longboat Key to Anna Maria or Bradenton Beach because it’s not as crowded and there is much less traffic. The place is a small boutique hotel run by a couple. It’s clean and the 1 bedrooms come with a fully stocked kitchen, including a dishwasher. It’s easy to just stay there for days on end and cook your own food. There is a gas grill on the premises and a small pool. However, the big draw is the private beach of Longboat Key with beach chairs, umbrellas and towels provided. You don’t need to bring anything, just show up. The place is really quiet and highly recommended for adult relaxation. Not sure how suitable it is for kids as there aren’t too many amenities. We obviously liked it enough to come back and will probably return again. The only complaint would be the 10:00 a.m checkout time. This feels entirely too early for vacation and is 2 hours short of most hotels. Other than that, this place is very good. There is a Publix Super Market and a CVS about 5 miles away and this place is also close Anna Maria, Cortez, Sarasota and St. Armand’s Circle. These are all great spots. The location is pretty much perfect. Overall, this place is worth it. Oh, and check out Eddie the Egret. He lives onsite and is lovely.

We were intrigued with Sandpiper. An older property, it exudes charm and evokes a step back in time. Just a short walk past the sea oats for beach access. Each of the 10 rooms has its own patio area, umbrella and lounge chair. 2 rooms have Gulf view. Although an older motel, it has Wi-FI, flat screen TV’s and other retrofitted creature comforts. Rooms are clean and charming. There are a lot of repeat visitors (we casually met some) and the early months of next year are already booked in advance.

We are enamored with Sandpaper and are already considering booking next year. Be advised this is not a resort nor is it trendy. Yet, it’s ambiance compels. One of its owners, Chris, was seated in one of their Adirondack beach chairs watching the sunset, wine glass in hand, dialoging with Sandpiper renters. Landscaping is very nice and it has a semi secluded charm.

Thank you for your kind words, Harold and I have worked diligently in the last 13 years to preserve the “Old Florida Charm” while bringing modern amenities. I absolutely love our sunsets on my backyard, the best beach in North America. We have tons of repeat guests from all over the globe, when you visit you are not a reservation number, but a friend, unless you want to enjoy our property in private.
Sunny Regards,
Life is always better at the Beach especially with a glass of wine!
Chris
